Hi Chet.

Well.... All I know is they were made to " order " out of ordinary " jobber " drill bits in the Blacksmith department of Rover experimental.

Alan spent the last years of his working life making prototype cars also the concept cars that appeared in the film Judge Dread.

His favourite was the converted " Mini Metro " that featured a mid engine that later became the MG.

I, and the whole family miss Alan's presence, but his skills are still with us along with his very special tools.

Cheers Graham.

that was a wild Wee car ,shortened it too ..cut the car in half and  removed the doors welded the front and rear door posts together and cut a new door in the back rear Quarter  then sectioned all the fenders 10 inches for Fat tires all the way around

Hi Chet.

Sorry, no pictures, the project as with all new car designs were well kept secrets!

The Mini Metro was front wheel drive, Alan completely modified the floor pan to take the mid engine form.

The vehicle Alan helped to build was then " test " driven around the Midlands area very few noticed the " wolf in sheep clothing " !!

Cheers Graham.

Hello All.

Yesterday was spent at the Anson engine museum for the Spring opening event. In the attached video I'm in charge of the starting and running lamp.

This engine ( at present ) is a sole survivor of its type.... A Robinson type HA.

The governor is particularly interesting, a " Pendulum governor " rarely seen and working beautifully.

Wow Grum, that thing is mesmerising.
How it slows and speeds up and yet looks like it just wants to run. Marvelous bit of engineering and well done to all who kept it in a decent condition over the years.

Ok,here is a !free energy  :D! system that is coming together, but not the kind of free energy you might be thinking about.

Below is a short video of my old 3.5 HP SD1 Bamford Diesel, which i now have running very well on old fish and chip oil.Had to advance the injector timing a bit to get it to run well, but that can be done on the fly with these engines--so we just advance the injector timing until we get the least amount of smoke out of the exhaust, while maintaining the correct rpm-->600rpm.

I cant believe how little fuel these engines use.
Noted that it is unloaded ATM,but still-->3 hours and 47 minutes at running speed on one liter of oil  O0 .

So,your asking--how is this free energy?
Well,i now collect the old chip oil from 3 fish and chip shops around our city, and they pay me(yes, pay me) to take it away,as it would cost them to have the recycler take it for them.

Not only can i use the oil to run my engine, but i also get $2.00 for every 20 liter drum of oil i take away for them  O0 .
Two of the three shops are on my way home from work, and one is only a 5 minute drive away,so the $2.00 more than pays for the fuel required to pick up the oil.
I get 2 drums(40 liters) from each shop each week on average.

Next is to save up for a 3kva gen head  ;)

3.5 HP it looks soo big for the HP ,funny how that was back then [huge engines]
and sounds soo good too.
one thing you forgot to mention, the smell of fresh cooked fish and chips coming out the exhaust pipe...I passed an old Mercedes running on recycled food oil, smelled like a Chinese restaurant...made me hungry  :)

that is a neet old Motor and a great project/recycle story

Hi Brad.

Lovely engine, Bamford were late starters, first engine produced in 1919, horizontal open crank petrol.

One of the brothers became rather famous with the introduction of the JCB !! JC Bamford....

I know you're allready onto a winner with the fuel, but....

https://youtu.be/rHM7FMHhyiE

I ran my Petter diesel on a 50/50 mix, idling only, no load, I'd be interested to learn if it works under load conditions.
The exhaust smelt acrid!!

Cheers Graham.

Believing in something false doesn't make it true.
I didn't see a real good place to post this.  I hope it is okay to post it here.

A little joke.

Two atoms were talking.

The first one says "I just lost an electron."

The second one asks "Are you positive?"

Hi Carroll.

No problem, however I did start a thread for the lighter side of OU research.

So who here likes star trek?
Well i love it.
To science fiction for you?,well so many things that they had in star trek are now our reality.
The flip communicator, now our mobile phones.
The hyper sprays instead of needles--now a reality
The ion thrusters-also now widely used in space travel.

Now we have the transparent aluminum,as shown in star trek 4-the journey home--yep,it's here

All we need now is our warp drive  O0
