There are strange and wonderful things in this universe!  Last Wednesday (18 Nov 2020), a strange metallic-looking object standing about the height of two women was found embedded in the sand in a remote red-rock desert area of Southern Utah.  No one knows what it is - or where it came from.  No kidding!

It would be exciting to me as a scientist to be part of the team which first analyzed its composition using a portable XRF device!  And took close-up photos, all around, especially on top.  Also, is there a base - or how deep into the sand does it go?  Sounds, rf, magnetic, etc...?

Who will join me in this adventure?

Take a look for yourself: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/a-2020-space-oddity-mysterious-metal-object-found-in-utah-desert/ar-BB1bhVT9?parent-subcat=foodnews

And this short KSL5V video provides some additional information:

Pls let me know what you think!

Don't you see? THEY are here!

The helicopter crew who visited the object is a lot smarter now than before. Even by looking at the video (showing the object) you will become smarter. Each time you watch the video you will be become smarter. So, watch repeatedly!

I would imagine the first thing would be to contact land owner ?
Or did I miss that it is public land?

Even then contacting authority that oversees that parcel and asking if it was placed there?
Or ?

I would imagine tooling marks would be evident under a scope ?

Is nice to consider it may be an unusual artifact ?

Looks fascinating.   I find it hard to buy the story that an artist did this in such a remote hard to find area.   Artists want recognition and this being where it is it might have gone unseen for decades if not longer.   I thought too it would be very interesting to investigate but I wouldn't really have the means to do so.

Is there an actual location pinpointed for this - like GPS coordinates?

If it is analyzed non-destructively to determine the type of metal or alloy that may shed some light.

It seems to be quite resistant to weathering and oxidation.

Beautiful landscapes in the video.

 No GPS coord's yet.
I've proposed an elemental analysis using portable XRF - non-destructive, and close-up photos.  Magnetic tests, etc.

Hi Steve, I've been reading on where the Big Horn SHeep are in Utah to look for areas to search on maps. I think a lot of people had the same idea as the site that has the PDF timing out. Here's the Google cache version but the diagrams are not in it. https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:lGcCiS8-bjEJ:https://wildlife.utah.gov/pdf/bg/bighorn-plan.pdf+&cd=13&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au

If it is of any real significance it'll probably be "seized" by You Know Who and made
"off limits" to any who are curious.

It is rather strange that it wasn't known about until now.

This article shows it in a Google Earth picture and says it was located by people using Google Earth but unfortunately this article does not expose the coordinates:

Several youtubers have gotten there with closeups - the closeups show rivets and apparent stainless steel sheet metal - not likely anything alien  C.C  :

Views of the top (sealed) with a drone:

Lots more people there - helicopter trip there by some interesting people and a couple people who brought a ladder and sat on top of it.  Just had to be some attention seeker to claim he is the first person to sit on it:

Thanks, E2matrix - I was just about to post about these results also.  Great fun by "amateur sleuths" - let me add this photo which shows clearly the metal-plates making up the object (and yes, rivets were also observed) - source = https://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/archive/2020/11/25/jmr-mystery-of-metal-monolith-at-least-partly-solved-as-sleuths-figure-out-its-location/?fbclid=IwAR1mUcKk6YYIzckK-QpHU1thfeOeBskx-z3PiDPf8QnL5NNlwIWNl-z_1Dk#.X8GiuiMrIy4

All this demonstrates what amateur sleuths can do!

Nice photo!

Hey, I have a dog just like that one.

So it's just a big stainless steel box?

What's inside?

Time Capsule?

‘Aliens took it back?’ Utah monolith mysteriously DISAPPEARS, possibly stolen at night

Quote from: the Article
The cryptic metal structure which has captivated mystery hunters’ imagination ever since it was
discovered in the Utah desert last week, has been stolen, according to disappointed pilgrims who
traveled hundreds of miles to see it.

The Bureau of Land Management in Utah has confirmed a series of “credible reports” that the
monolith is no more, saying that the structure was taken by an unknown “person or group” on
Friday night.

"BLM did not remove the structure which is considered private property."

Officials said they have no clue who removed the obelisk – and still scratching their heads over
who installed it there in the first place, possibly years ago.

Looking at the right side of the picture PhysicsProf posted... I didn't know aliens used #2 Philips screws, lol.

I would consider this to be in the "Oh look a squirrel" class of anomalies.
