Grumyour builds are a delight to watch run...and also the sound how far we have come since the early days...you had mentioned a machine processing seeds?is there a link to it working ?you are a breathe of fresh air.thxChet.
Very nice Graham, I wish I had your skills in the foundry RegardsMike
Hi muDped. Thanks for the interest, I just love making engines. These are " Vacuum " engines, sometimes called flame lickers/gulpers. A volume of heated air is sucked into the cylinder and then a timed valve shuts. The air entering the cooler cylinder now starts to contract and good old atmospheric pressure does the work. These are my own design going back about 25 years. These short videos show my progression through the various " standard " arrangements. Vertical, inverted vertical and horizontal. The " V " twin is my latest design and much larger than most out there, the design is yet to be proven as a runner....https://youtu.be/S13wymzV0pohttps://youtu.be/wIM7pErrFCchttps://youtu.be/CyouJxF6dpICheers Grum.
Nice little engines Grum. But it would seem that the hotter the cylinder get's,the less efficient the engine become's.Also,so much wasted heat going on there.I see a couple of things that could be done to make those engines far more efficient. But fun to watch them work anyway Brad
JimCould you make an audio tape of that beast?Never heard one, hope it’s not a drop bear !!( heard they are real scary)Must be plenty for her to eat there?ACA 9n That will be here longer than the pyramids..Very nice indeed
Lovely job Jim. We wish you and your family seasons greetings from a rather damp and soggy North Wales.Cheers Grum.
