Title: My Earth Energy System 2012
Post by: Slider2732 on 2012.11.07, 21:59:53
EES 2012

A rather grandiose title, but the system works, is scalable, simple, comparatively cheap and will run practically anywhere.
It breaks no 'laws' of science and is something that hopefully brings the thought of "why has noone else done this already?"
About the only place where this won't work, is in places where traditionally they haven't needed such a system, i.e. for the oil Sheikhs living in deserts !

What is it ?
Earth energy. Earth batteries on a usable high output scale.
Summed outputs from simple blocking oscillators, such that their outputs can be chained together and deliver usable power.
A natural progression from the garden lights that i've developed and following continual running of 6 months now of the electrodes envisaged to be used.
The criteria have included:
Solid state
Simple to build
Readily available parts
No negative impact on the whole system if a section fails or needs maintenance.
Can be scaled
'On' indicator
Need not entail planning permissions
Need not require vast amounts of land
Obvious as to how it works
Breaks no 'laws'
Off the radar for exotic free energy devices
Must be able to power anything from a calculator to a house !

Construction
The system uses a proven quirk of Earth batteries, in that only 1 Positive electrode need be used within a circuit. Each output, of same available voltage and amperage can be gained by connecting a Negative electrode to that same Positive electrode.
Because copper is more expensive and less common than steel, just 1 copper electrode is used in the construction of the whole system, regardless of how many Negative connections are made...the other electrodes are of chain link fencing galvanized steel, often to be found for completely free around industrial sites. It can be appreciated, that a 6ft long section of fencing will produce many hundreds of Negative electrodes for this system. Also, in my own tests, while such steel may form a protective oxide layer over time, it can always be sanded clean and reused from any condition, it also does not pit or decay over time (approximately 10 years in the case of the weather exposed fencing in our own backyard).
Each output, from a 6" piece of copper and 6" piece of steel is approximately 0.7v and 100uA.
The need then is to do something useful with such outputs. Simply chained together they only improve amperage and not much can be done with 0.7V.
The solution is a blocking oscillator of high efficiency, connected to each Negative and the 1 Positive.
The output from each, then runs through a diode to an electrolytic capacitor of >100uF, in the prototype case 220uF on each and all capacitors are linked by simple wire connections to form a total output. A lesser value still works, but throughput appears to be less linear and predictable, due to the collapsing fields nature of the oscillator output.
If any oscillator fails, it can be removed without detrimental effect to the whole system.

Here are a couple of pics of the prototype 6 oscillator build.

The above show 6 sections running in dirt brought in from outside and sitting in a plastic container.
A Mallory 15V 27000uF capacitor was connected, starting at 0.000V before going to bed last night.
Charge results:
03.23am 0.000V
03.25am 0.100V
03.30am 0.220V
03.35am 0.329V
03.40am 0.425V
03.45am 0.528V
03.53am 0.673V
04.08am 0.912V
11.30am 4.36V
03.00pm 4.60V
03.23pm 4.69V
- highest reading taken >6.50V.
No water has been added to the soil since initial trials began some days ago - LED indicator is also being trialled to alert to that need.
The separate oscillator seen on the right, with an LED lit, is a flashing indicator of the charge available from the soil the system is placed in. Its output is an indicator of soil conditions, the rate of flash showing the operating conditions. Its connection is to the same copper piece and to a same steel piece. Faster flashing, better soil....slow and dim flashing, it needs to rain ! Rain is the recharging mechanism :)

That's just 6 oscillators, imagine 250.
18 oscillators would charge 3x such 27000uF capacitors and enable a 12V dump charge to a 12V battery when connected in series. As a car battery maintainer it would have that immediate practical use - not dependent on solar, wind or in fact the need to put anything outside if no garden space is available !
Or, with only a single large supercap, a charge would enable the powering of household electronics up to 6V (perhaps higher).

In the pictures above I have used pieces of flat galvanized steel, but only for testing. 6" pieces of chain link fencing will readily outperform these approx 1" square sheet pieces. Such steel need only be cleaned one per week to deliver full running potentials. The cleaning would be with household kitchen towel or other rough paper. If such maintenance has not been performed for some time, sandpaper can be used. Another copper piece can be readied to replace the other, if that too is to be inspected and cleaned. All in all, a modular system.

Next Stage
Refinement of the 'look' of the system.
The arrangement into blocks of oscillator banks.
A connecting system between banks.
A waterproof ground insertion sturdy block for Negative electrode banks to extend from.
Placement of many blocks in the Earth outside.
Trials for the charging of 12V batteries.
Inverter running tests (SJR 3.0, Tesla tower, 120/12 transformer circuits etc).
Adoption of the system to assist our own running costs at home.
Practical demonstrations.

Future Plans
Well made "Plug n' Charge" banks of oscillator stages, such that any system can be readily added to.
As needs change or an initial system is proven useful to an end user, more banks can be added.
Commercial availability and manufacturing.
Promotion of the energy principle as an alternative power source.
To be followed by EES 2013, EES 2014 and onward, developments per year of the system.

Clever, Mark!

QuoteEach output, from a 6" piece of copper and 6" piece of steel is approximately 0.7v and 100uA.
The need then is to do something useful with such outputs. Simply chained together they only improve amperage and not much can be done with 0.7V.
The solution is a blocking oscillator of high efficiency, connected to each Negative and the 1 Positive.

How long do you expect the copper to last and put out power?

Thanks Steve,

I'd expect it to last practically forever.
A weekly clean with kitchen roll seems to keep the garden lights going. There's been no pitting or anything since July and a half dozen have stayed in the ground for that long term test.
Also, the copper/steel used with half a dozen oscillators in a video some months back, all were still putting out 0.6V and 40uA this week after being in the ground permanently to 2ft depth. They're much longer than envisaged for this system and they'd dropped, but still run oscillators. I'll probably uproot them and clean them off with sandpaper.
Electrodes for this will be 6" length.

The steel has been outside for approx 10 years as garden fencing and doesn't seem bothered by working as an Earth battery electrode. It may be due to the low energy output as to why galvanics don't seem to affect either metal.

That original setup in the pic above is still going, I haven't added water yet to the soil. Kinda fun in a geeky way to charge up the cap and test oscillators through a resistor. Top voltage in the 27000uF cap has been 7.6V.

Looking through everything now for extra oscillator parts to expand it all.

Updates

In 4 days, the original system in the pics above will have been constantly running for a full month.
No extra water has been added to the soil and it forms a good test of the longevity of all components in dry conditions.

Lester Orense is a chip designer who now has more time on his hands for this kind of project, with being made redundant. He's Lester444 over at EF.
If progress is made and the initial system becomes realized, he would be delighted to assist in the development of the envisaged oscillators chip.
In such a case and through discussions, the chip will be a ZIF type, with inductors (axial) in clean mounted lines external to it.

I'm looking for some funding, somehow and would appreciate any advice.
Is Ibiblio.com a good idea ?, myself personally having a rough ride with Kickstarter.
Solder supplies are at zero, i've been using thick traces etc from old circuitboards and it's probably not healthy. Everything is salvage and with that comes an increasing daily search for components. Transistors are the main problem.
When the 100 oscillator EES 2012 is finished, it will show more of the abilities envisaged for the 1000 osc version...it's just the getting there that is the trouble.

Also....
Erin (Electronic Rapid Impulses Network)
Each oscillator has been part of the Codename for the EES 2012, which is 'Erin' and each is an Erin, all part of the whole.
The oscillator uses an aircore 2 wire interwoven pancake coil. 3 capacitors are used, 1 for the input temporary storage, 1 in the tank circuit and 1 on the output with the diode (47uF, 1uF, 1uF).
12 oscillators will form each stack, to resemble small Tesla towers, but, most importantly will resonate together, pulling up low performing oscillators.
How can I be so sure ? because of the way that pancake coils interact with each other...notably in the SWES systems as developed recently (Simple Wireless Electricity System and found on my YouTube channel). If a pancake coil with blocking oscillator is brought near to another similar setup, the strongest one will dictate oscillation frequency and will bring up the running of the poorer performing one. I believe it to be the ability to fire the Base of the transistor easier than the poorer one could manage, without affecting the needed input to the stronger one.

Erin oscillators are a progression of those experiments, mounted inside small water bottle caps and, each wirelessly connects field energies to those above and below itself.
The pic shows a finished Erin oscillator, a pancake coil within a bottle cap to its left and some of the components for building more are shown above them.

Hey Gabriel...
Glad to say hi  O0

The big difference is that Br0kenMan has individual cells of individual soil, the same as a car battery or any series connected batteries.
The EES uses the same soil, electrodes are inserted into the very same soil anywhere in a patch of regular dirt outside.
Plain soil in a regular garden will produce around 0.7V @ 250uA, using house wiring gauge copper and steel electrodes of 6" length.
The problem comes when trying to add another pair of electrodes and sum the outputs, all you get is 0.7V at slightly increased uA, due to the extra surface area.
By using individual uA oscillators on each output, they can be summed. Working like a Joule Thief, the small amount of energy is transformed to a much larger pulse. The regular method of having an LED on the output is omitted, allowing the spike to be transferred onward. Each oscillator won't do the summing on it's own, but if linked with diodes and caps to a central storage output cap, they do work to sum the outputs.

The whole thing has been in development for quite a few months and the 100 oscillator system is expected to be shown with warmer Spring weather :)
Then the 1000 osc version, which will be practical and usable, running to a mains inverter.

Well all I can say is WELL DONE!!!! Some times it takes thinking out side the box. Looking forward to seeing it in spring. O0
I would like to do this for my shop with the LEDs lighting it.
