Title: GMO: Genetically Modified Organism - Threat to Mankind
Post by: Grumpy on 2013.01.14, 03:03:11
Now that several people around me are dead or dying of cancer, I have a renewed interest in GMO's.

Feel free to post anything concerning this threat to Mankind here.  There is a lot to it and it should have it's own subject for multiple threads.

List of GMO vegetables:

http://www.livestrong.com/article/428500-list-of-vegetables-that-are-genetically-modified/

(This blew me away as some of these I never expected of being modified.)

Many more links at that site.

I have been "low carb" for about two years and "corn" is hard to avoid, but most of the other GMO vegetables are excluded form this diet.

Seeds.

I read several articles of how greedy corporations are pushing their GMO seeds on everyone they can, and you are not allowed to save seed for your next season and have to buy theirs each time you plant.

Also, in the interest of self-sufficiency, you need good seeds.

List of sources of GMO-free seeds (some are also non-hybrid):

(This needs to be a thread under this vast subject.)

Hey Grumpy

Gmo corn with BT pesticide built into the dna, pops the stomach of the pests, causes holes in our stomach linings and intestines. When these holes are large enough and deep enough, if undigested food particles make it to the blood stream, our immune system attacks. This can cause allergies to those foods. Thats not all.  But should be enough for people to at least take a second look.
Cows are not suppose to eat corn. Grass is the ticket. So the cows eat it. Then need antibiotics.  Then we eat the meat and drink the milk. +steroids.  Ugh

I love corn. But I wont eat it unless its organic. But at $5.75 for 2 cobs, Im done with it.

Should be a good thread. ;]

Monsanto
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsanto

It is a leading producer of genetically engineered (GE) seed and of the herbicide glyphosate, which it markets under the Roundup brand.

Notable achievements by Monsanto and its scientists as a chemical company included breakthrough research on catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation and being the first company to mass-produce light emitting diodes (LEDs).

The company also formerly manufactured controversial products such as the insecticide DDT, PCBs, Agent Orange, and recombinant bovine somatotropin.

Monsanto was a pioneer in applying the biotechnology industry business model, developed by Genentech and other biotech drug companies in the late 1970s in California,[7] to agriculture. In this business model, companies invest heavily in research and develop and recoup the expenses through the use and enforcement of biological patents.[8][9][10][11]

Monsanto's application of this model to agriculture, along with a growing movement to create a global, uniform system of plant breeders' rights in the 1980s, came into direct conflict with customary practices of farmers to save, reuse, share and develop plant varieties.[12] Its seed patenting model has also been criticized as biopiracy and a threat to biodiversity.[13][14][15] Monsanto's role in these changes in agriculture (which include its litigation and its seed commercialization practices[16]), its current and former agbiotech products, its lobbying of government agencies, and its history as a chemical company, have made Monsanto controversial.

I've suspected enzyme changes in my own dietary experience:

(near bottom of page)

http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_19992.cfm

"In another study in which rats were fed meat using GM or non-GM soya, the rats has depleted precursors of a certain enzyme and disorganised pancreatic cells changes that are often indicative of pancreatitis. The authors note:
"The results appear to indicate that rats fed on a GM diet suffered "a mild pancreatic injury with an adaptive response"."

The GMOs are a good example, such as the push for
vaccinations too, of something which is not good for
the people of planet Earth.

Where is the push for these developments originating?

What is their goal;  their agenda?

Is there really anything that can be done by the people
to halt these destructive programs?

Does anyone know why you never see potato seeds, i mean proper seeds, not the seed potato that is a potato.

From what i understand, a 1 year old potato can be grow for 7 years producing potatoes, these are sold as seed potatoes, after 7 years their disease resistance becomes none existent so these are sold to the public for consumption. most under 7 years are sold to growers.

I grew my own potatoes this year still eating them from the June crop, only 2 plants had seed pods on, they looked like small tomatoes, i took them indoors to dry, the dam Mrs threw them out she thought they had gone rotten DOH, maybe next year.

I have kept my own broccoli seeds  & Onion Seeds from last years crop.

Quotedepopulation and control

I have been warning other farmers for over 10 years now and the answer is a little more subtle. GMO is a Ponzi scheme nothing more, now consider what it happening.
1) they sell GMO seed
2) Farmers must buy GMO seed because they cannot carry it over and they grow the seed for a profit.
3) Who buys this seed? --- other farmers.

QuotePonzi scheme
A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to its investors from their own money or the money paid by subsequent investors, rather than from profit earned by the individual or organization running the operation

Corporations sell GMO seed to farmers grown by subsequent farmers because they own the seed however they forgot to mention the simple fact that no consumers want their product. Every single person I have ever met has said given the choice they would not buy any product which contains GMO material.
You see this little ponzi scheme works up to the point when people figure out they are growing a product that nobody wants and if GMO labeling ever comes into play this whole fiasco is going to implode. This scheme works because farmers are unaware of what is happening, because corporations are paying off the politicians through lobby groups and because GMO material is being introduced into products without our knowledge or consent.

This is the new corporate strategy, create an artificial demand for a product or products which nobody wants through aggressive marketing and lobbying of government officials. If we want to stop this BS then the answer is simple, this is about profit --- money--- nothing more and if GMO products are ever labelled then everyone will finally understand that the product has no value because given the choice no consumers will buy it.

Lobby our government for mandatory GMO labeling, demand a choice, and this fiasco will finally be put to rest.

The corporations that support GMO also spray their crops with weedkiller, and then the wind blows it over to your adjacent field.  You plants die with the weeds.  You lose your crop.  The corp then offers to help you by selling you seeds for plants resistant to weedkiller, or they may even gratiously give you the seeds to get you started.  Next year you just have to buy more if you want to keep planting them.

Another scenario is that the wind and bees carry the pollen from the corperation's GMO field to plants in your field.  You harvest and save seed for the next season.  You plant your seed and grow a crop.  The corp tests your crop and find GMO DNA in your plants, and then sues you for illegally using their patented GMO product even though you never deliberately used their product.

Crazy, isn't it?

Who ever controls the food, controls the people.

It might be about money. To the judges that rule in favor of Monsanto the retire into cushy jobs with the company. People in gov and the FDA, same thing.

But the real agenda is to control the food.

They are patenting plants, seeds and even animals.

By law this is not suppose to be allowed. But it apparently is now.

Good vids that explain it all....
