Title: See coupling of "magnetic eggs"
Post by: PhysicsProf on 2014.02.15, 05:14:35
While visiting at my daughter's house with the grand-kids, I always like to do experiments.  About a year ago, the kids and I built some homopolar motors.  Lots of fun.

This trip, I saw some "snake eggs" at Dollar Tree - bought a bunch and took them home and starting playing.  We ended up with some coupling (and de-coupling) between the mag-eggs which I find amusing - and so did the grand-kids and adults!

How to explain this behavior?  I really don't know yet...  But its fun to observe!

There is a chap on EnergeticForum who puts one of these eggs on top of a
###### bifilar coil connected into the regular SG circuit. I think he is jdavro or
jonnydavro or something like that. The egg spins at speed and he concludes
something or other from all this.

(You are going to have to replace the # before you use this link).

Here is the video he kicks off with:

Thanks, Paul-R.  I've returned from travels, and getting back into the swing of things.  Good vid.
