Title: The Ratchet Engine Is Perfect For HHO
Post by: Tommey Reed on 2014.07.12, 12:48:26
Hi All,

I would like to explain why the ratchet engine is made for all types of energy like HHO.

HHO has two important facts, a explosion and implosion effect.

HHO burn at a rate of 4400m/s, this is to fast for slow burning fuels like gasoline.

HHO also has oxygen in the mix, so why would you need more air/oxygen from the intake. This is also why you need so much HHO due to improper mixture of added oxygen.

This is just one  possibilities of the ratchet engine.

Interesting concept Tom.  So because HHO expands and immediately contracts on its own, you wouldn't need the choo-choo valve.

So I was thinking about bore and stroke, combinations typically manipulated to allow various fuels to work optimally.  What would you estimate for HHO?  A very large bore with a very small stroke?  Seems to me HHO speed is the killer parameter.  We would need something that allows a lot of expansion very rapidly, hence a rather small stroke, but a huge force from a overly large piston.  Or because the piston is so large, it can't overcome its own inertia even though it only needs to move a tiny bit?

In my ten years of experimenting with HHO, the hammering effect is something I was never able to conquer.  Pure HHO simply reacts way too fast to mechanically harness.  Instead of combustion, HHO is much more like a detonation.  I ended up going the other direction trying to mix HHO with nitrogen, air, water vapor, all sorts of things to get the burn rate to slow down.  In the end, I came to pretty much the same conclusions Gary Hendershot did.  And I will say, I never understood all the gadgetry Stan Meyer came up with to overcome this problem.

Hi Matt,

I have demo a hammer effect last year, I created a HHO water pump with a explosion that force water upward, and implosion to pull water in for another shot.

This is a ratchet engine test fire.

I also agree that the bigger the piston volume, the greater efficiency of HHO expansion to do work.

Dear Tom.

Your title says it all !!  :)

Town's Gas was well over 50% Hydrogen.

Please enjoy.

Cheers Grum.

That is a really neat engine Grum.  When he shut it down the motor sounded just like it was dying a slow death.  Kind of sad actually to listen to.

Hi Grumage,

I like how the one way clutch only allow the downward motion from the weight to do work, just what I said  many times before.

Allow the HHO to freely expand, and turn it into work as it falls or at the velocity it travels.

Dear Tom.

Well of course, there is also that formidable force of atmospheric pressure too!!

It is the ignition device that was the most clever part ! An external flame ignited a small portion of fuel mixture in a movable slide that was then carried over to connect with the combustion chamber.

This became known as "carrier flame ignition" and was employed on Otto's later improved four stroke engines.

Cheers Grum.

That is extremely clever.

This is exactly why I have always honored and respected older generations--they simply do not see common obstacles as anything but a challenge and with a moment to think, can be easily overcome.  I tip my hat you guys.   O0
