So what has he done wrong ?? My simple theory. Input drive onto the periphery of the flywheel. Not good !! Cancels gravity field. I am not clever enough to go farther but that is how I see it.

It sounds lunacy if I say the motors are a wireless .. but that's the case and a wireless has to be tuned. the trouble is I can really only explain this as I see it ... I'm sure when a few others grasp the principle and perhaps explain it a little differently you'll quickly see what must be done to make this concept work.
Its much easier to do than to try and explain. The idea of taking an angle grinder to a fast moving car flywheel in order to make adjustments 'in situ' doesn't appeal much to me still that's basically what the African guy I spoke to had done ... not sure the health and safety guys would go a bundle on the technique :-\

for radio guys it is probably just accepted, being familiar with crystal oscillators you will know quite well enough that its possible to run them in overtone (odds) or harmonic (evens) and in theory follow to progression to infinity. The overtone progression is normally started in a state of series resonant drive whilst the harmonic progression is started with a parallel resonant drive.
