OK,some more info on this !galfenol! device.
Stephans thread title is misleading,as it is not a self running device.
The energy comes from vibrational/mechanical energy.
It is also nothing new,as the US navy has been using galfenol transducers for many years,to amplify signals.
The best recorded energy conversion rate is 76%,where 76% of the vibrational/mechanical energy is turned into electrical energy--so the system is 76% efficient at best.
