Thank you all!  While this Christmas is not as merry
as it might have been, here we are...  The numbers
of homeless people on the streets of Southern
California is nearly beyond comprehension.

Let us hope the coming year will be a good one.
The way the World condition is shaping up it could
be a very difficult one.

gyula, you're link didn't work for me so here's another one below that I think shows what Grum said. What a curious language that is, words with no actual vowels wow. I'll bet that's difficult for the average person of any other language to learn.

Translation.

Hi Guys.

I had no idea that " merry Christmas and a happy new year " written in Welsh would create such interest, and yes, dear Farmhand it is quite a difficult language to learn.

Try this one for size !!    :D

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

It's the name of a village on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey ( Ynys Mon )  about 60 miles west from me.

Iechyd da, Grum.

well Grum
I ask a special request [if you can]
the next time you make a vid could you say that in the intro ?
is it even Speakable ??  :D

Amazing !!

I recently watched some history on Folks from your part of the world and they were saying how people
would say their names and it would be a long tapestry of all their married and sir names ,the fellow asked a man he was interviewing his
"full " name and he took about ten seconds to rattle it off and then said "that is me and my family all the way back to 500 AD "

these towns must be doing the same in some way ??

Hi Chet.

Here's the translation.

" Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch"     The longest town name in the world means "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave".

It's a real tongue twister, and for goodness sake don't listen to Google translate audio...... Even I can pronounce it better!!

Cheers Grum.

Oh Grum, to some people everything new or different is interesting. Even though we are getting on. It's the spark of life, new and different.

Want a laugh ?, attached is my pronunciation of the Welsh place name.
I am, however quite a bit Welsh, last name being Vaughan.

You make it sound sooo easy

as a kid I memorized the longest word in the world {at that time}
can still say it!

I wonder now if it really was the longest word ? or just the longest word in "my world "

Antidisestablishmentarianism.... looks pathetically small next to that towns name

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch"

@ just googled the new worlds longest "English" word
takes over 3.5 hours just to say and is over 189 thousand letters long..

I must be as old as dirt...when I was a Kid you could say the longest word in half a breath
Now you have to pack a lunch
 :o

screwy stuff ...

Cheers Chet :)
It is funny how we probably all have remembered some of the most non useful stuff.
For myself, it would be things like Pi, as 3.14159265358979 and every few years a number goes on the end - but what is it useful for to that many places ? lol
Another would be "Noone would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space" and onward, in a pseudo Richard Burton voice.

"just googled the new worlds longest "English" word

Yep, that's probably the name of Mrs. Jone's dog from Merthyr Tydfil

Sorry I do not know what that means ! I'm totally lost for words, I don't get what that has to do with what I said, when youse all stop laughing maybe someone will let me in on it.  :-[

I can write poetry of my own but I don't get most other peoples poetry unless there is some moral to it or something, looking at "Under Milk Wood" that kind of poetry is no my cup of tea.

Oh ok I think I get your meaning now. No I don't find that all that interesting. Poetry is not new to me. hehe.
