The advertisement or the human post after yours?
If the human post about a totally different perpertual motion holder then....
Finally, someone followed Ed's directions!
I was only musing because the user "imhotep" was asking for a free energy design.
Wilby pointed out that it may not be the same person, because he actually used **~imhotep~** as his username.
The last time **~imhotep~** was active at OU was 2008-09-12, so who knows for certain if it is the same person or not? If not, my mistake.
.99
Easy mistake to make.
Often, I find it amusing when a new or old user chooses a moniker without considering the flak it may bring upon them.
I thought the post referencing an unrelated video was more interesting.
Has conventional science ever produced an explanation for the retained magnetism in a 'perpetual motion holder' or compass activities that go with it?
WW
Good point.
The compass was interesting, if we are talking about the same video. Was there something under that small cup (propping up the compass) causing it to spin?
I'm not aware of any official explanations of the PMH. Do you have one to offer?

If he was doing it right, there is nothing extra needed to make the compass act that way. All he would be doing is applying a current to the coil circuit then breaking the circuit.
I have a working explanation but it requires one to admit:
1. charge and magnetism are solely properties of space
2. relative perpendicular motion of one or more same or related forces, even if they are eddies of the same force, will produce an additional acceleration of that same force or the inverse of it.
(OOPS! Can't remember my own rules. --- Depending upon the combination and relationship of the driving forces the created acceleration may be angular acceleration. )
If I start talking about it I'll have to go back on my brain dimming medication :o
See why I don't bring it up ;D
:D LOL
I did go a bit overboard ;)
Before I went overboard I provided hints as to why the perpetual motion holder maintains its magnetism.
Related to a recent reply to Ramset;
The magnetic force is stored in the core but compressed into it by the application of current to the coils.
Since 'magnetic lines of force' always try to remain connected in a loop and take the easiest path, removal of the current doesn't cause the evaporation of the magnetic lines of force.
They are not from the coil or the core. They are focused into the core.
Now the heretical part:
The breaking of the circuit (magnetic or electric) causes this focused field to dissipate.
The coils are part of the magnetic containment within the core. Not possible as there is no DC induction other than when the field changes relative to the coil?
Not quite.
There are only two examples of induction without changing relationship.
Permanent magnets and perpetual ring current. The latter the actual cause of the former.
The problem seems to be that something even more impossible may be happening.... Current without potential. Maybe better to say velocity without acceleration.
There is no drag because the magnetic vector is the same as the current vector.
If you believe this then you can see why the compass does what it does and all I did was test the waters with my toes and not fall completely overboard.
OK. I'm ready for my whipping now ::)
I can't see youTube Vids.
Are you saying that a compass spins inside a perpetual motion holder?
If it is built exactly as Ed said, the compass will spin one way during application of coil current and the other when the device is discharged.
Spinning during charging is followed by visible compass oscillation and then locking into a the bar orientation.
Spinning during discharge is followed by compass oscillation and then softly pointing to the bar.
Never could get a compass to spin inside the 'U', closed or not. It only spun on the outside of the bent end.

I checked out the page and it is a most curious link to big oil. I never
saw any of that before so sent it to Tom Bearden to see what he has to say.
Here is their;
"Introduction:
If you wanted to sabotage alternative energy development and misdirect
any interested individuals, while simultaneously creating the illusion
of progress in solving the energy crisis, how would you go about doing
it? One very good method would be to covertly fund so called
alternative energy experts, who would setup websites and publish books.
All of which would be filled with impressive sounding scientific
information, and pictures of devices that almost (but never quite seem
to) work. There would be dozens of these websites, all interlinked with
each other, thereby creating the illusion of a vast network of
individuals and organizations, tirelessly working to solve the world's
energy problem.
These individuals would also organize conferences and seminars, where
for a small admission fee, the public could learn about the latest
breakthroughs in alternative energy. And of course there would be
books... Lots and lots of books. Each one full of information, and
promising that a breakthrough is just around the corner.
In point of fact, the "breakthrough" took place over one hundred years
ago, and what you're witnessing today is a immense disinformation
campaign, perpetrated on a scale so vast, its almost unimaginable.
The following is an exposé outlining the connections between some of the
most high profile individuals in alternative energy, and the
corporations that are covertly backing them."
Years ago when he changed from phase conjugation to dissipative
conductors, I thought what a turnaround...when I asked him about it, he
said;
http://www.textfiles.com/bbs/KEELYNET/ENERGY/brdn180.asc
Lets see what he has to say about it...might be they just offered him
free space and support without conditions...it happens and there are no
conspiracy or coverups involved.
But everyone has the right to challenge such statements.
As of 03/14/11 I have not heard anything from Tom about it. Maybe its
just not worth the time to respond.
We shall see..thanks!

Very instructive matter, thanks. This site confirms my opinion about Bearden.
I had also fun: the word "craddock" (from "Craddock Engineering INC") sounds in my mind exactly like the French word "cradoque" which is an argotic term for "squalid", "sordid", "filthy". What a perfect match! ;D
I actually like Tom Bearden, and it would be nice if all was not true.
I have not read the page yet, so I'll reserve further comment until then.
At the very least, I think we can say that Tom was an inspiration to many in their early days of interest in FE.

I'm not sure why this oil services company in Santa Barbara owns the Bearden website (if it's realy his), but I never thought much of Bearden's ideas anyways because I saw a lot of math used in his documents, that gave it an air of athenticity, but in reality it lacked substance and rigor and it was just full of simple and naive theories. An anology is putting on glittering clothes for the Oscars to attract attention to yourself. I knew he did not have the depth of knowledge and theory that he was claiming, so I just ignored him.
Another thing to consider: we know that companies like Shell and BP are buying up Solar production to position themselves for future profits (or perhaps to delay that future), so I would not jump to conclusions and give in to conspiratorial ideas, but it sure looks suspicious. I wonder if he worked for these people. There are a lot of oil rigs right off the California coast line around Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands. I drive by there all the time and they look neat at night, but they won't look so neat when an oil disaster strikes.
EM
I'm not too prone to indulge in conspiracies, but I was just thinking:
Nuclear power plants produce around 22% of the electricity in the US, 55% is coal, Hydro 10% and Gas another 10%
(http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/basic-ref/teachers/01.pdf)
In Japan nuclear energy accounts for around 30% (in 2006) and they were planning to increase that to 40% within a decade.
Now we are seeing in the news a popular uprising against these Nuclear Power Plants, protests in Germany, concern in the US, etc.., just when the electric vehicles are starting to come on the market. WTF is going on? Is this a coincidence?
Is somebody sabotaging the electric car future on a global scale by using sinister methods? Are the oil and gas companies that have an expertise in deep see drilling and mining somehow involved? Could they have purposefully "triggered" the fault line around this area of Japan, knowing that it was ready to go anyway?
>:(
I think giving BO credit for a 9.0 earthquake would be too much. After all, the cost would be very high. We all know they are into cutting costs not increasing them. Look at the Gulf disaster.
As far as the oil industry backing Bearden? .....
It is just as likely BO tagged Bearden with links back to BO just to start another whirlwind of conspiracy theories. This would keep us all occupied while something else is created to increase profits.
Maybe they did it to discredit him. Maybe he let it happen or planned it so he can create and sell another book.
BO doing anything to create a distraction is unlikely. Surely they are smart enough to know that we don't need help with that.
EM, I see our opinions of Mr. Bearden are very similar but I think we are already in an oil disaster. It has been growing since Henry Ford created us. :-[
I'm watching CNN and a "clean" coal commercial came on. Unbelievable. We can't fight these huge corporation, they have lots of money and they lobby hard.
I think we need to radically change our ways of life, specifically transportation, because our "modern" society will collapse soon when oil shortages begin.
How about we start riding more bikes to work?

He was really an "inspiration", but only about the idea to "think different" and to challenge academic science. He may have sparked in people the wish to try new things. There, he get a good point and I agree with you.
But he is not an inspiration about the object of his personal "different thought" which is not supported by the facts and the observations. It is a tedious and fuzzy words production without equations, quantified predictions or detailed experiments able to discriminate this new science from the old one, and to check it in the reality.
We can't give credit to people working out theories based on nothing else than their imagination, while asserting that real objects work according to their theories, when it is obviously false: the MEG doesn't work.
The MEG obeys the current laws of physics, the theory of fields. Fields superpose. They simply add, they don't modulate each other, except in non linear media, which is also well known and modelized.
If we consider that the magnetic circuit of the MEG has constant parameters, then the permanent magnets play no role because a coil can recover only a varying field, that one of the "switching" coils. Thus, output=input (less the losses).
If we consider the MEG as a parametric device whose switching coils modify the core permeability and therefore the magnetic flux from the permanent magnets, then it is not new, work has to be done by the switching coil to rotate the magnetic domains against the alignment that the permanent magnets impose. Energy is still conserved.
If the MEG is not supposed to work according to my explanations, then a working device have to be shown and the experimental evidence of OU to be given. I would be very interested. Until now, I failed in reproducing Bearden's patent and I didn't see positive results from elsewhere except from JL Naudin whose measured hypothetical gain is far below the experimental accuracy (and JL Naudin dropped it, a sign that there were no promising results).
Even T Bearden himself was not able to build a MEG that works. Case closed for me.
In true Bearden style (he wrote a book of a response), Tom replies to Jerry's query as to the "truth":
QuoteHola Folks!
I received this from Tom Bearden regarding the website cited, he addresses his relationship with Tony Craddock and some of the misunderstandings regarding his work.
The name Tony Craddock sounded vaguely familiar and it didn't hit me til Tom wrote this, but when Walter Rosenthal died I posted an obituary about him and used a small low quality photo I found from a free energy DVD ad page, and I put in a description of the DVD and included the link in case people might want to buy it.
Within days I received what I thought was a rather snippy takedown notice from Tony Craddock saying he had the rights to that photo and I didn't have permission to use it. That SPOKE VOLUMES to me about what was going on...
So I immediately took it down and contacted Walter Rosenthal's daughter direct who sent me a very nice, MUCH BETTER photo of Walter which I could use as I saw fit and I did in the obituary...thanks to her for wanting to see her father recognized for his lifetime achievements.
For some people, its all about money and control...I won't say more but you can figure it out for yourself. I have seen this before...with patents its call trolls...
Anyway, Tom kindly sent the following to respond to the basic question of why there is an oil company connection to his website.
Here is what he sent;
Hi Jerry,
Let's see: The fellow SMITH whose skeptical work you refer to, cannot even spell "alternative" correctly, but he proposes to be decisively
knowledgeable on "alternitive" energy. Also, he apparently knows little or nothing about modern quantum physics, which has been born, tested and proven since the 1920s and early 1930s. So he really does not know what a charge IS or what a dipole IS, much less what it DOES.
Well, every charge and dipole in the entire universe is already a proven, known, and established "free EM energy source" that continually and freely pours out a steady stream of EM energy -- a steady stream of real, usable, observable photons -- that comprises what the electrical engineer in his sad old archaic 1892 model calls "static voltage". Note that the archaic old 1892 EE model still assumes that the "vacuum" is just empty space and has no energy at all in it.
The broken symmetry of any dipole is directly from modern physics, not Tom Bearden or Tony Craddock. The discovery and proof of broken symmetry by Lee and Yang was responsible for the award of the Nobel Prize to them in 1957.
So every dipole (and indeed every charge) in the universe already is a
legitimate and proven "free EM energy system" continually and freely pouring out free EM energy until the end of time, if one simply makes or produces the dipolarity and then LEAVES IT ALONE.
But Smith seems to think he "knows" that there are and can be no working overunity energy systems, such as Bedini and other inventors have built and demonstrated for more than 40 years, including at the recent Renaissance Conference in Coeur d'Alene Idaho last July, and such as will be demonstrated again this coming July by a second Renaissance Conference there. And such as is proven by every electric charge, magnetic pole, or electric or magnetic dipole in the entire universe. Again, according to modern physics and as rigorously proven, the universe is already alive -- and always has been -- with untold quadzillions of free EM energy emitters!
Thus the free-energy problem for the engineer is not in obtaining the
emission of the energy from the vacuum via the ASYMMETRY of the charge or dipole. That is cheap, quick, and the easiest thing in all the world to do. Just make a dipole, glue it down, and then leave it alone. Instead, the problem is in building the REST of the total usable electrical power system that will be used to power the loads -- that is, the receiving and collecting and using subsystem or what the EE calls the "external circuit system" -- so that this added "windmill" part of the system sits SEPARATELY in the downstream of steady EM energy (the free EM energy wind) from the primary source dipole, and never, never, never connects back (current-wise)
to the primary dipole. Instead, in a free energy power system, the
"windmill" (external circuit subsystem) of the overall system must just separately sit downwind in that steady and free EM energy wind from the source dipole, divert a little of the flowing EM energy wind aside and collect it SEPARATELY, and then use this FREELY DIVERTED AND COLLECTED EM ENERGY to power its loads and losses in the external circuit.
Specifically, the "windmill" system (the external circuit) must not use ANY of its collected free energy to destroy the source dipole by regarding it as an "external load" and pumping current back up through it (though its back EMF) and thus continually DESTROYING the source dipole and cutting off its own steady and free EM energy wind.
In other words, you have to build a "system" consisting of an "internal" or SOURCE DIPOLE system which furnishes and pours out the EM energy wind from the vacuum freely, and a SEPARATE external RECEIVING or windmill system which freely and separately sits in that free EM energy wind and diverts and uses some of it, but absolutely without passing any current back through the primary source dipole (the source of the free EM energy wind) at all. It's that simple.
This rigorously is also an ASYMMETRICAL system, and since the EE is always conditioned to build only SYMMETRICAL systems, then his own SYMMETRICAL model and his lack of knowledge of asymmetrical electrodynamics mean that the EE -- following his own teaching and model -- can never build an overunity circuit or system.
The steady flow of real photons from the source dipole also continually creates and sustains what the EE mistakenly calls "static voltage". It isn't static at all, but each part of it (each photon) is moving at light speed.
In short, one has to actually drive one's "external circuit" system (the downwind "windmill" system) by coupling this pure "static voltage" (potentialization without current) only. That concept, of course, does not even exist in the standard EE model, since it was deliberately eliminated by Lorentz from the original Heaviside equations (at the elicitation of the evil J. P. Morgan) to yield the severely mutilated EE model from its very birth in 1892. Yet in 1931 or so, according to legitimate sources Tesla had actually powered an electric car apparently by "static voltage" (i.e., electrostatic scalar potential only), a car that had drawn no CURRENT from
its "battery". Thus the car was run for multiple weeks without "recharging the battery".
We will make the statement, without further elaboration or discussion, that if the average researcher knew what Tesla had actually done for his nation (the United States), which additional work is still highly classified and thus "does not officially exist", he would be stunned. Suffice it to say that we owe Tesla a great debt of honor, not only for the AC power, the rotating magnetic field that made electric motors and generators possible, radio, etc. that he gave us, but also for things we will not be openly informed of for the next 50 years or more.
Tony Craddock is indeed my website manager. Tony has a company that
specializes in furnishing technical workers and engineers to the big oil companies when they need them, which is a service he legitimately performs for a fee. And that's it. He is not "owned" by "big oil" in any fashion, and he has absolutely no desire or commitment to seeing the perpetuation of our overwhelming use of oil, coal, and gasoline.
Tony is actually a great humanitarian who intensely wishes to see free EM energy systems developed and being universally used for the benefit of all humankind. He has labored and is laboring very hard to preserve the present precious overunity inventor's hard-won knowledge and discoveries, such as the epochal discoveries of Howard Johnson, John Bedini, and others. Tony Craddock has done and he does most of this great humanitarian effort at his own personal expense, with his own money and labor and efforts and time, and by doing much actual filming and documentation of working bench models successfully invented by Bedini and others, and then making the results available to the public on DVDs, in books, etc. He personally has done more
than any other living person that I know of, to see that the significant discoveries of the best of our leading free energy researchers are not lost to humanity when the inventors die, but instead are documented for future generations to know and perhaps even to understand and reproduce and utilize.
Again, to anyone who knows a little modern physics, the simple dipole -- once it is made easily and for peanuts -- will thereafter just sit there and freely extract real EM energy from the seething virtual state vacuum, and pour this energy out continuously as a free and steady-state stream of real observable photons which the electrical engineer erroneously calls "static voltage". It is "static" only in the sense of a "static" waterfall, which is continually created and sustained by the steady flow of water molecules.
As a matter of fact, Nikola Tesla already had such real working free energy systems as early as 1891. He would indeed have given the world FREE EM ENERGY had he not been mercilessly stopped and destroyed by the infamous J. P. Morgan. The rigorous mathematical proof that Tesla had such systems already working is given by T. W. Barrett in "Tesla's Nonlinear Oscillator-Shuttle-Circuit (OSC) Theory," Annales de la Fondation Louis de Broglie, 16(1), 1991, p. 23-41. Barrett shows that EM expressed in quaternions allows shuttling and storage of potentials in circuits, and also allows additional EM functioning of a circuit that a conventional electrical
engineering analysis cannot reveal. He shows that Tesla's patented circuits did exactly this asymmetric shuttling function. So Tesla's special circuits could dissipate power where he wished in his external circuit, powering different parts of the external circuit independently. [Paper is carried on the cheniere.org website at internet link http://www.cheniere.org/references/TeslaOSC.pdf . ]
Here are some pertinent quotes from Tesla himself:
"The Hertz wave theory of wireless transmission may be kept up for a while, but I do not hesitate to say that in a short time it will be recognized as one of the most remarkable and inexplicable aberrations of the scientific mind which has ever been recorded in history." [Nikola Tesla, "The True Wireless," Electrical Experimenter, May 1919.] Again we stress that Tesla's education was in the PHYSICS of his time, before electrical engineering was even born!
"Ere many generations pass, our machinery will be driven by a power
obtainable at any point in the universe. This idea is not novel... We find it in the delightful myth of Antheus, who derives power from the earth; we find it among the subtle speculations of one of your splendid mathematicians...Throughout space there is energy. Is this energy static or kinetic? If static our hopes are in vain; if kinetic – and this we know it is, for certain – then it is a mere question of time when men will succeed in attaching their machinery to the very wheelwork of nature." [Nikola Tesla, in a speech in New York to the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1891. Quoted from back cover of his biography, Margaret Cheney, Tesla: Man Out of Time, Simon and Schuster, 2001].
"Electric power is everywhere present in unlimited quantities and can drive the world's machinery without the need of coal, oil, gas, or any other of the common fuels." [Nikola Tesla].
"We have to evolve means for obtaining energy from stores which are forever inexhaustible, to perfect methods which do not imply consumption and waste of any material whatever. I now feel sure that the realization of that idea is not far off. ...the possibilities of the development I refer to, namely, that of the operation of engines on any point of the earth by the energy of the medium..." [Nikola Tesla, during an address in 1897 commemorating his installation of generators at Niagara Falls.].
"Whatever our resources of primary energy may be in the future, we must, to be rational, obtain it without consumption of any material." [Nikola Tesla, 1900].
For an excellent article on the suppression of Nikola Tesla, see Les Pastor http://peswiki.com/index.php Site:LRP:The_Deliberate_Curtailment_of_Nikola_T
esla%27s_Primary_Energy_Source .
The infamous J. P. Morgan elicited Lorentz to deliberately modify the
proposed Heaviside equations to specifically eliminate any of those
"confounded Tesla systems obtaining their energy freely from the active medium." This modification (symmetrization of the equations) yielded what would become the standard electrical engineering model thereafter, and which is still used today. The modification was done specifically to prevent all our future EEs from ever using their EE model to design and build an asymmetric (overunity) EM system because their mutilated model was deliberately curtailed (SYMMETRIZED) to only contain SYMMETRIC (i.e., COP<1.0) systems.
At the time, there was not a single electrical engineer on earth; there were only about three dozen physicists who had some knowledge of Maxwell's theory. And Maxwell's actual theory is 20 quaternion-like equations in 20 unknowns, so that it contains both symmetrical and asymmetrical systems.
Simply put, a "symmetrical" EM system passes all the external circuit
current (the "windmill system" current in the external circuit and thus in its loads and losses) back through the primary source dipole to destroy it and thus continually cut off the flow of free EM energy.
The sad old 1892 EE model contains a dozen falsities -- absolute lies still taught today to our electrical engineers as "truths". This has been pointed out by Nobel Prizewinning physicists. As a single example, EEs are taught that the vacuum itself HAS NO ENERGY, and is naught but "empty space". That has been known and proven to be false since the advent of quantum physics in the 1920s and early 1930s. As another example, the EE is taught that force fields exist in empty space, which is a lie. By the simple equation F = - d/dt(mv), all one has to do is put in m = 0 and see that force does not exist in the absence of mass.
What actually exists in space are the POTENTIALS and their variations. When a variation of a potential encounters and interacts with an electron in the wiring in the circuit, THAT ONGOING INTERACTION is a force. And a force field is a set of such ongoing interactions.
We continually stress that modern quantum physics and its proven knowledge of the energy of the vacuum and of the virtual state was not yet even born in 1892. The suspected particle we call the electron was not even "named" until 1894, and it was not fully discovered until 1897. There was no such known thing as a photon, and the vacuum was considered to be total emptiness containing no energy at all. Such totally erroneous assumptions (a dozen of them) are still included in the standard but archaic old 1892 electrical
engineering model today, without change since 1892.
Note that, to build free energy-from-the-vacuum systems, you first need to VIOLATE the sad and decrepit old 1892 EE model! That is the FIRST REQUIREMENT!
And finally, to completely clinch the matter:
We strongly point out that physicist Victor I. Klimov and his associates at Los Alamos National Laboratory have rigorously proven and demonstrated that real physical power systems can be built which do pour out more usable energy than the operator inputs to them, with the excess output energy being freely obtained from the virtual state vacuum. A microscopic solar cell, when struck by a proper photon, emits an electron which immediately dives into the virtual vacuum sea, takes on additional energy, and emerges as a highly excited entity which decays to produce from two to seven electrons. Thus the special nanocrystalline solar cell emits 200% to 700% more electron energy than the normal solar cell's photoelectric effect. This effect, rigorously validated at both Los Alamos National Laboratory and the National Recoverable Energy Laboratory, completely demonstrates -- and proves for all time -- that real physical systems can be built which directly extract and use excess EM energy from their surrounding active virtual state vacuum. This work is rigorously reproduced and validated by two great national laboratories, (1) the Los Alamos National Laboratory and (2) the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. This work and its validation
has been published in the leading physics journals of the world now, and in the leading nanocrystalline journals of the world.

In short, the feasibility of getting and using excess EM energy from the seething virtual state vacuum has been rigorously and strongly proven and validated by those two great U.S. national laboratories, and published widely and accepted in both physics and nanocrystalline science worldwide.
==========================================================
So it is rigorously and scientifically proven -- both theoretically and experimentally -- and it never has to be proven again!
I think the above makes the point beyond argument: Mr. Smith doesn't know what he's talking about.
Free EM energy from the vacuum IS NOT included in the standard and decrepit old 1892 electrical engineering model!
It is, however, included and directly proven beyond any question in modern physics.
For anyone seriously interested in free energy from the vacuum, he must read and understand modern PHYSICS, not the sad and mutilated old electrical engineering model. Let the truly interested and impartial reader simply read and study the physics references and then make his own decision.
Best wishes,
Tom Bearden

QuoteWe can't give credit to people working out theories based on nothing else than their imagination, while asserting that real objects work according to their theories
That's where your wrong, Albert Einstein and many other Nobel winning physicists had nothing but theories and it was only much later that these "theories" were proven to have some basis in "reality". While science may be about the facts it is the imagination that dictates the creation of technology because technology does not create itself --- people do. Now if I conceive something is possible and someone else proves it is then most times the creator, that is the person who "conceived" the idea is given credit.
As well I believe you are mistaken in implying that just because nobody has produced a working machine based on Bearden's theories to date that this is proof that nobody ever will, this is nothing more than speculation.

@AC,
Well put. Diatribe of the classic failure model. Niels Bohr hypothisized that the electron is a ball tied to a string swung around a center point. Kill him for thinking.
Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton was the one who asked why. Whoa, this is the best quote I have ever heard. In the standard rhetoric he should have been stocked and beaten for asking such a question of stature trying to invalidate the creation. How dare he!
Well I guess that will teach us to raise our hands in public. So there. >:(
The difference between Newton and the cranks or swindlers of free energy, is that Newton provided a theory fitted facts and observations that we can verify.
The problem of gullible ignorants and unskilled people is that their competence is not enough for them to distinguish between a Newton with his theory of gravitation and a Blondlot with his N rays. For them, whatever thing is equal to everything and anything. And the more controversial, the more flattering for them since it would mean the fail of the scientists more intelligent than them, but conventional.
@exnihiloest
QuoteThe difference between Newton and the cranks or swindlers of free energy, is that Newton provided a theory fitted facts and observations that we can verify.
Actually Newton did not provide a theory of much of anything as he never described what Gravity is only what it does which should have been obvious. This is one major issue I have with what we call mainstream science in that people would seem to have no problem understanding how things act then assuming this is the way everything must always act however they never fully explain --- "why". Imagine that, recieving a Nobel and global recognition for describing nothing more than the inverse square law of force but giving absolutely no consideration to "why" this force called Gravity acts on matter nor "what" it is in reality. It's funny that this silliness continues to this very day whereby people call Gravity a force however Gravity is not a force because the force imparted to matter is an effect of gravity, not gravity itself. At this point we could ask the only question that really matters and that is ---- What is this force which acts on matter fundamentally?, Why does this force act on matter?, How does this force act on matter? What is the reason this force exists? in which case nobody can give a reasonable answer without devolving into fantasy particles popping in and out of some magical alternate universes.
Now let's examine the logic here, what if I wanted to build a craft which circumvented this "force" acting on objects we call Gravity? How would I do this? Well we cannot do anything because we have studied what Gravity does and how it acts to death however nobody knows "what" it is. If we knew what it is fundamentally then it would seem obvious that we could manipulate this force to lessen it's effects on matter or change matter in some way so that this force could not act upon it. I find this odd, supposedly everything is understood but we have no idea what it is or why it is, wonderful, we should call these theories the theory of nothing because at the end of the day that is exactly what we have learned.
Regards
AC
The genious of Newton is coming from a theory that links phenomena apparently so different as the fall of an apple and the motion of planets. It is this integration of disparate observations into a general and fundamental law that reveals the genious. The causal way by which bodies influence each other can be a next step.
A statement like "we cannot do anything because we have studied what Gravity does and how it acts to death however nobody knows "what" it is." is false. To fly to the moon or to take photographies of distant planets at the limit of the solar system, is a practical consequence of our knowledge due to the theories of Newton or Einstein.
And these real and usefull experiments, thanks to these theories, are the means to get a new knowledge of our universe and to go further.
Science progresses step by step. There will always be unknown things. It would be counterproductive and doomed, to demand that the science answers all the questions, each time it answers only some. It is a childish caprice.

It's hopeless, modern society is built on oil. To undo this bondage and free ourselves, we have to either discover some revolutionary technology or begin to change our lifestyles drasticaly. Like, move closer to work, ride bikes to work, or work at home, in the absence of mass transit.

In S.F., about 3-5 times as long. The good thing about The City, is that it's not very big compared to Cleveland, OH; Houston, TX; or Los Angeles, CA. That makes a bike effective. You need to develop strength and endurance if you want to do it regularly. ;D :o :P O0

I converted my mountain bike to electric, I was lucky i could go from my house door to my work door via downland fields, but there were big hills in between, 13 miles by car 30-40 minuets depending on jams, 10 miles by field 50-55 minuets and the views are amazing, only trouble was the weather so i had to choose my days carefully.
Used under 0.5 kWh one way. equates to 5-6p in electricity in UK, 13 miles in my car fuel at current cost is about £1.30 one way

Great ! Peterae. Can you tell us more about this, how you did it?
Did you use a kit ? what kind of motor and battery? Hey, thanks.
Steve (also 62 now, m-in- OK)
Hello PhysicsProf
Yes indeed, I did my conversion 3 years ago.
I used a 36V controller and battery, to start with i had a 10Ah 36V LIFEPO4 battery, this would just about get me the 10 miles to work, i had to peddle like mad up some real big hills to make sure the battery lasted, it became apparent the battery was under capacity for what i wanted and also the peak current discharge was not quiet good enough, i then ordered a 36V 20AH battery from ebay, this really did the job well.
The motor was a central hub, gear less and brushless 1 horse power, I used the rear wheel version to give me better traction as the fields could get muddy.
I use a regenerative controller, so in effect you do not use your brakes you just ease off the accelerator to brake, you can regain up to 33% of the energy used going up hill when you come down the other side, i did not have a consumption meter to get realistic readouts.
In the UK legally you are restricted to 200 Watts motor and are not allowed to go over 15 MPH under power, this was a real problem for me because of the hills, i wish now i had gone for a 200Watt motor but with gears inside to give the torque to keep legal C.C
The place i ordered my stuff from is here
http://www.goldenmotor.com/
The controller they sell now is quiet advanced and quiet cheap.

I lived in Tucson, AZ for about 4 yrs until I came here to San Francisco. The newest thing there is gas-powered bikes. Local Mexican entrepreneurs can refit a regular bike for about $400 American. Some are fast enough to out-accelerate a car from an intersection. They're
really! risky to ride, too.
In Calif, especially in S.F., they're so regulated and the potential smog is so bad, they're impractical. Electric bikes are expensive, though.

I'll pop out of my mothballs for this one. I worked about 4 years
on trying different angles to make an E-Bike. Got hold of a 300 W
24v motor and thought that would do the trick. It would move me
but any small hill would bog it down to nothing and kill the batts.
In the end I realized that you need at least 5-6 hundred watts
to pull you around efficiently. Low and behold, the law here says
you have to license at 600 or more.
Then you have the distance problems, just not enough to make
me want to shell out the 1500 bucks to do it.
End point, they dont want you to.

Note:About the initial post? Are there schematics that come with the "Owner's Manual"? In this country (USA), one can buy a trailer-mounted solar power plant that doesn't come cheap! QuoteDeclaration of the Occupation of New York City
As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.
As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.
They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.
They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in the workplace based on age, the color of one's skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.
They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless nonhuman animals, and actively hide these practices.
They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.
They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers' healthcare and pay.
They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.
They have sold our privacy as a commodity.
They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.
They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.
They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.
They have donated large sums of money to politicians supposed to be regulating them.
They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.
They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people's lives in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantive profit.
They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.
They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.
They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt.
They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad.
They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas.
They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts. *
To the people of the world,
We, the New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power.
Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.
To all communities that take action and form groups in the spirit of direct democracy, we offer support, documentation, and all of the resources at our disposal.

Peter,
Have you considered a cart affair to be towed behind the bike with one or more batteries in parallel with the motor(?), but: on level ground, this will work best. Otherwise a bigger motor for hills adds cost and inefficiency to the equation.
--Lee
Not sure i understand what you are saying, there's no way i could travel over fields at 20MPH with a cart, my batteries are light and very good, if i had to switch to lead acid i would definitely need a cart, i would need 3 of these to get my 36V and each one weights as much as my Lifepo4 battery at the same capacity, I would then probably need a 2 horse power motor to get the same performance.
You have to lash out on LIFEPO4 batteries, it is only this battery tech that makes it feasible, although it would also be possible to use NiMH

You're absolutely right. Carts on small wheels will not do well in a field. Lead-acid batteries weigh a whole
lot compared to NiMh.

I am also wondering if it could be used in place of Lithium to form a new type of calcium based rechargeable battery.

few ideas come to mind:
1) the particles slow down because of gravitational pull, and eventually stop and fall back.
2) since Voyager2 is seeing the winds and traveling in the other direction opposite Voyager1, this means that perhaps the "winds" are indicative of the drift of our solar system through the universe, so they show a type of "doppler" phenomena.

Robert Duncan
Robert Duncan, an outspoken advocate of low-energy nuclear reaction (LENR) research, is leaving his post as the vice chancellor for research at the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri.
Duncan will become the vice president for research at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, on Jan. 1, 2014, according to press releases from both universities.
He will move from a university with significant nuclear research programs to a university with no nuclear research programs. Texas Tech has no nuclear physics or nuclear engineering department.
At the University of Missouri, Duncan is responsible for the management of the university's major research facilities, which include the Missouri University Research Reactor, the most powerful university research reactor in the United States.
The shift for Duncan also includes moving down from a tier 1 university to a tier 2 university. The ranking is based on a gauge developed by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions, a "gold standard" used to compare the quality of universities.
Duncan did not return phone messages from New Energy Times.
I attended ICCF-18 -- great meeting!
So does this mean he was demoted because of his interest in LENR :-\

Basically, that's it.
I wrote to Arik at Univ of Missouri SKINR project, and he replied:
QuoteDear Steven,
Thank you for your kind words, we enjoyed the meetings and the discussions as well.
Yes, this is true, Rob is leaving to Texas Tech in January 2014, Rob will continue to be involved and his move is not related to SKINR what so ever (it was simply an opportunity he could not say no).
Rob will probably will maintain a professorship position in the physics department with direct involvement in SKINR.
This move will not affect SKINR, we are continuing with our program including the financing.
Best regards,
Arik
Glad to hear that PP

That Nuclear power station is going to come online too late, there will be massive over runs and delays no doubt, it would appear the UK can no longer make a paper aeroplane without massive costs and even then we need to bring the Chinese in to fold the paper LOL
Britain is no longer great more like pitiful.

I've only loosely followed this whole thing since Snowden leaked it out originally. I haven't heard "why" they are spying on all of this email and internet traffic.
This is a very large undertaking. I can't see that middle eastern terrorism warrants something of this magnitude. Next will be stories of three precognitive girls in a tank somewhere, predicting crimes before they happen (Movie: Minority Report)
The Federal Reserve is still buying bonds through it's "easing" plan, and housing prices are soaring again, but gas is down - as winter starts.
Any good theories on what is really going on in the world?
It would appear they are building a database of every person on this planet, our 10 yearly census was farmed out to American defense subcontractor at 10 times the cost of the previous one.
That means they now know everything about everyone who's legal in the UK, i guess even illegals will be on some database somewhere, most death records in developed countries are digital, so you only need to appear on any 1 database they have access to over the persons life and they can notch a data record and know if they are still alive.
Once every person has a data record they can start filling in personal details, medical history, thumb prints, DNA, skills, age, how old and who your relations are, once you have this information then you would ideally have a system in place to track them, i mean who doesn't have a mobile phone these day's.
Once you get close to that scenario the people in control become gods.
Question is why.

Honestly, the American Gov't is the same way. I learned firsthand from my being a USAF veteran. They now have the Patriot Act and Homeland Security on their side to do what they want to whoever they want.

And I agree. Computer databases can be data-mined to glean whatever info. they want and do what they want to with it.

I admit I'm one of the few who doesn't have one. I have Asperger's syndrome and I really DO need to talk to people. Asperger's sufferers tend to isolate from outside contact. Those whom I'll be working for have asked me to do things like come to this Forum and express myself more. Part of my job will be presenting R&D findings to groups of engineers who would like me to be well-spoken and assertive.

Or devil-worshippers. I have the same opinion as you do, above.

Human nature? The natural tendancy for people to be fearfully nosy? Men's natural distrust of others around them? I've found all to be true in my six decades of life. Anyone who thinks they can hide what they're doing from others, when others are suspiciously doing the same thing, is delusional.

Uh, did you take this up with the Forum Moderator? If he says he's not doing anything, then
possibly(?) someone is playing a game, here?
