Hi All

I have started this thread to document my on and off work on STEAP.

I have moved on to use ELF frequencies (around 30Hz at the moment @1-2% duty only), this has some interesting results using a very depleted 12v battery with loop back and running 24 LEDS.
The total current draw is around 7ma @ 8v fluctuating from 7.5-8.5v, the thing is it keeps going and the current draw is only barely enough to run the 555 driver for the mosfet switch.

I have increased the cap used for the parametric switching to 2.5uf @440v non electrolytic. I have only two 4007 diodes in place and should be schottky diodes but I am using those in another project at the moment, but at the low frequency they seem to be holding up well, but if the frequency was increased they would get very hot.

Attached are some shots of osc: and spec: an:

When I get my video camera sorted out I will do a video. As it stands it would seem that it is running and holding it's own!! (eternal light, maybe). I think battery chemistry is playing apart, the loop is both capacitive and direct via the 24 leds in series with the run battery.

The scope shots are very interesting and show the high voltage generated, the green is the driver for the mosfet and the yellow is the mosfet drain before the diode, which shows that there is a high voltage at the drain. The output from the transformer is in the 100's of volts. The current draw is measured with a DVM across a 0.1 ohm CSR (ohmite), the voltage across the battery is also with a DVM.

Just a quick note about the mosfet, it must be a 600v mosfet if higher input voltages are used. I have blown quite a few due to the high voltage at the source drain. I am now going to use a high voltage transistor the BU508D which is used in TV's as the flyback driver, they are rated @1500v, I will let you know how I get on with this. The base drive has to be changed a bit as max BE is 5v, so from pin out of 555 a 10 ohm/2w resistor followed by a 100uf cap, then a 1N4007 used as a zener, with parallel 1K ohm down to ground so as to not go above the BE voltage.

If all works out OK I will post the diagram, also the phasing transformer connections as there seemed to be a problem of understanding how it is wound and connected.

regards

Mike

Hey Mike

Can I ask what you think is happening in that coil configuration? ;D

Hi Mags

The drawing only shows the config: of the coils, with the capacitor it becomes a parametric oscillator and generates multiple frequencies all coming together and increases the "volume", more volume=more power out to what is consumed (that is the theory at least). There maybe other things afoot, I'm sure there is, this applies to various inventions such as Figuera patent of a generator.

When I can get around to it I will do an update circuit diagram.รง

Regards

Mike

and @All
I just wanted you to know I had a very nice chat with Brad, the air is clearing around him he is really moving along with some amazing open source work.[yet to be shared publicly or otherwise]

I will be ringing him again tomorrow for more follow up.

Thx
