Yes the White Zombie (Datsun) is cool and I've been watching his videos for years.   But it is not the fastest street legal car.   It is one of the fastest electric cars off the line but others have hit higher top speeds and many street legal cars have a higher top speed.   Electric cars can be some of the fastest off the line due to the torgue of electric motors but they usually can't hit the high speeds that gas cars can.   However I've often thought if they were to add some gearing in between those electric motors and the rear end they could hit some incredible top speeds too.   As it is now I don't think most electrics use a transmission unless it's a one speed tranny (although I did see one with dual motors running a 2 speed tranny).   Correct me if I'm wrong but I think most are direct drive to a differential (I know the Tesla S car does not have a transmission).

This is my dream car and I think officially is still the fastest as an average was taken over many speed trials, and also is a production car with incredible trim.

White Zombie electric top speed = 129 MPH
Rimac electric vehicle says they will have 190 MPH top speed :  http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/23/tech/innovation/could-this-electric-beast-be-the-fastest-supercar/

Rimac also claims a very impressive range of 372 miles on one charge - that's more than most gas cars get on a full tank of gas.

BTW thanks Chet for that 270 MPH Hennesey video!   Very cool.   Looks like I saw a GoPro camera mounted in the car.   The wide angle of the GoPro makes it all the more dramatic

Hi Mike,  Yep Bugatti's are serious drool material      and at their prices I can hardly stand to look at them knowing I'll never have one unless I hit the Lottery.

Nice cars, sorry for my inaccurate info.

A friend of mine converted a Mazda MX5, he left the gearbox in, but only uses 3rd upwards and it pulls well.

How about a Thorium powered Cadillac?   Will run for 100 years with no gas or recharging!   http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directory:World_Thorium_Fuel_(WTF)_Cadillac_concept_car
