A rather "Heath Robinson" attempt at the Harold Aspden effect !!  :)

Grum, is your motor a DC brushless type?

I ask because my Baldor motor does have brushes and I notice slight deviations with almost every run and especially if I change directions and go back--pretty sure it has to do with brush wear.

Dear Matt.

My motor is a 4 pole PM field with 4 brushes.  Perhaps, you too, are seeing the effect !!   ;)

It is strange.  If you leave the motor and flywheel to rest for a few minutes  it always takes longer to run up !!  I wish I could afford a data logger that could see the watt's in real time, that, I think would be a real eye-opener !!  O0

Cheers Grum.

Cheers Grum.

Nice job, Grum and Son, a smooth running assembly. Those sure are nice flywheels in your shop.

A nicely performed experiment. I think the first run up was 40.6 sec. Maybe time for us to read again the Aspden paper........did he spin magnets?

Thanks for the video update.

Have a nice weeks end and watch your fingers!.

Kind Regards, ION
