I thought this would be an interesting debate because I can't seem to figure out what the populists types supporting people like Trump and Putin want.

What do they want?. What does there future look like?.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported in the Financial Times, "liberalism has become obsolete". He claims that the vast majority of people in the world oppose multiculturalism, immigration, and rights for people who are LGBT.

with things as they are now.  That the Status Quo is hunky dory.

I'm not sure what your definition of "populist" is beyond "the People"
but as I see things Populism is not the answer.  The People have
been largely compromised and are effectively in a trance.

We are in need of something far stronger than Populism which is
untainted.  Which is Pure and Good, the antithesis of Evil.
Unfortunately, that does not yet exist on Planet Earth.

It is on the way though.  The Forces of Good have those qualities.

You know the populists want things to remain as they are or move backwards so you prematurely  accused me of thinking the same. No, I want change.

When I say populism I'm referring to the populist leaders like Putin, Bolsonaro, Trump and the narrative they were elected on. A far right mentality championing authoritarian power versus democracy, opinion versus facts and generally born from greed.

Something stronger than populism?, authoritarianism in the form of religion perhaps?. Something supposedly pure and untainted however we already know how that turns out from the dark ages. Very tainted and barbaric.

However you have not answered my simple question yet again. As you know, I already know the answer, I just want you to say it but you cannot any more than the populists can.

Which begs the question... if it is good as they claim why are they so deathly afraid to tell anyone what they really want?. I think there silly games are funny not unlike yours.

I suppose most People would rather, from an Economy standpoint as well as
a Standard of Living viewpoint want, things to return to what used to be our
"Normal."

Politically I doubt that anyone who thinks clearly is satisfied.  There seems to
be no end to the corruption and dishonesty and tyranny.  Elections never
result in a solution or a truly positive change.

Evil has stealthily conquered all that is good with its facade of fake good.

What we are going through now is a necessity.  Evil is letting down its veil.

Everyone who isn't entranced by it can see it for what it is.  It is everywhere.

When a People that has been massively fooled for a very long time suddenly

I was in Sam's Club yesterday.

I went in without a mask on and with my 'Face Mask Exempt Card' in my pocket.

The greeters at the door told me I had to wear a mask. I told them I didn't. The old
man sitting there started to get up and I turned to face him (I'm an old man, too so
no bullying or intimidation) and he sat back down.

He told me that the governor had mandated masks and I told him that the governor
was not my boss and that he had better read it a little closer as the governor had left
it up to the discretion of the stores, at which point some masked customer decided
to brace me with, "It is the store's policy, you have to wear a mask." to which I replied
that he, too, should read the news a little closer and told him the Sam's, Wal-Mart and
Kroger had informed their stores that if anyone refused to wear a mask then they
shouldn't confront them further. I also asked him if he worked for the store and, if not,
what was his authority to confront another citizen.

No answer. No further confrontation. I did my shopping without further incident from
anyone and without a mask. I did not have to produce my card. This was in the Sam's
Club in Elizabethtown, KY. I don't know if they video any of these things, but, if so,
everything I said can be verified. Oops, forgot I did pull out my card and flashed it to
the civilian.

One thing that I know is that if enough of us do this we can start to change some of this.

Sadly, that will not alter what is coming but may slow it down enough for more people to
actually wake up and smell the coffee.

It pays to read the "law" and the "policy."

Speaking of what People may want;  I doubt very much anyone wants this.

The whole Covid-19 Response with Lockdowns, Social Distancing and Masks
is a diabolically ingenious Psychogical Operation or PsyOp.

Evil wears the invisible mask of authenticity as it pretends to be good and
honorable and caring for the welfare of humanity as it goes about its deeds
in secrecy of destroying, tearing down and tyrannizing the People.

Now the People are being forced to wear masks as a sign of submission to

I hope you're right about that last part, MuDped, especially the last two sentences.
My concern is this - in October, the owners of facebook, twitter, msnbc, cnn, nyt, etc. will turn OFF essentially all that is positive about the current President, while piling on ridicule and embarassment on him and his supporters.  The flood, i suspect, will be overwhelming and will thus determine the election. 
   After that, the Electoral College will be ousted and there will be no contest for President from then on...  sigh

The next couple of months will be "hot" both politically and temperature wise.

The People are being "tested" by means of the Medical Tyranny to see how
