I'll start a thread on the main board also, but here I'm particularly interested in comments that might lead to a replication OR an understanding of where the power is coming from.    One possibility -- power from the signal generator -- your thoughts on that?
I have a spot of reserve money lf Mark or someone needs parts; I'd like to try it also and have ordered MrClean's specified ferrite toroid from Digikey.

Thanks to Chet for the "heads up" on this one!

Quoteholy crap you guys and gals!!

OMG IVE NEVER BEEN SO PUMPED, this is really wierd, but i was playing around with single pulse-to-start direct connection to itself, and noticed the system began to oscillate when i did a certain routine of steps, then decided to remove caps where i had the battery... along with the positive.... and something magical happened....

... the light kept going...

and when i thought it was going to stop, it kept coming back

39F Don Smith Device Project: BITOROID IN SELF-LOOP, WITH LOAD, NO BATTERY NO CAP - YouTube

Video is cryptic but intriguing:

I captured a screen shot, showing the Bitoroid (attachment).

A clean schematic is still awaited from MRClean, but Verpies kindly provided a "rough draft" (attachment 2)

The "bi-toroid" is intriguing... reminds me of Thane-Heins...

It is indeed an interesting circuit and development.
I believe there are/were 4 of those old stock toroids left on Digikey when last reported. Heck of a way to shift 2003 vintage stock if nothing else  ^-^

I'll read the thread here shortly, been following the one over at EF forum.

Mostly, my thoughts are with Kurt...just the pressure of the situation. Some folks are like a pack of rabid dogs with anything like this. Mind you, his video title lends itself to such people taking notice. He needn't know how it works or why, but I do wish the demo had been a bit clearer.

If the signal generator/555 section is still powered, then with an old fashioned NE555 there is 200mA available at the output.

The 3W LED bulb is reported to be not very bright but can be seen to be running. It is feasible that the bulb is being powered by that output, somehow.

I wound a Bi-toroid last night but didn't know about the Leedskalnin style Primary winding...one layer downward, back up to the top with no turns and wind downward again. 200/80/200 were the turns.
Needless to say, not a lot happened in testing with oscillator circuits, but then it was just to see if there was anything very weird with how it may run. Inconclusive. The one I wound was from a small isolation stage in a PC power supply. Not ideal, but the ferrite looks like an 'H' with the top and bottom also closed.
