Thought we'd best start a thread on TinMan's device...or elements of it toward understanding the full device.

A story of intrigue and mystery, rumor and now the exploration of the working processes, the DOVADA should pique the interests of many here.
While the good fellow is here on this section, i'll let him say a few words about his Dad's book, the device and the progress so far if he wishes.
Here's the main thread at IAEC Forum: http://iaec.forumco.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=973&whichpage=1

A replication of the circuit shown on Page 8 of the thread is underway here....though i'm a bit stuck in the bedroom at the moment. Better weather around the corner, for soldering at the workbench.

What I wished to share today, is a little sideshoot possible discovery.
In the comments section of one video, I asked whether wireless output was seen from the pancake coil, as he had it set up. The answer was negative. Well, being as it's normally a difficult thing to actually stop a pancake coil emitting wireless energy, I decided that perhaps the LED's shown were drawing the field energies, or the low speed running prevented a wireless field.
The finding tonight, has been that indeed I can't get a wireless field when the pancake coil is bifilar connected to the 555's output. However, if I only attach 2 wires of the 3, the central outer to inner join wire and one outer wire it WILL produce a wireless field.
The low speed of approx 60kHz of the test system may well be a factor, considering that just a transistor on 1.2V will produce a larger field on my SWES at around 2MHz running speed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSUGXCWIVoI
Wireless energy isn't the issue of course, the anomalous extra current over the input current is the focus of research at the moment....just that personally i'd not seen a single filar pancake coil of a few turns produce a wireless field before.

Here's the video of todays breadboard build and small pancake test coil:

Also, the solar garden light and LED experiment seen in the first pages of the IAEC thread is running in a partial fashion at the moment. My 'Forever Light' uses a small solar panel from a garden light, plus a blocking oscillator and polyacene cell to run an LED 24/7 from ambient household light. That LED is now pointing back onto the solar panel and i'm wanting to see whether the run time is extended by doing so. A regular dark room only run is of 16hrs before the LED quits.
It will be fascinating to see whether a scope reading shows a trumpet/tornado inner waveform, as TinMan shows in a couple of his videos.
Here's the 'Forever Light' video (also shows the human energy powered rocks tester): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zahv1FrK0BM

One thing that TM had said From his Dads  book that struck me ,was the way we orbit or Spin around the universe.
I always had an image of Circular Orbits, nice and neat and simple,However In reality it is a spiral
of Orbits ,just as the DNA spiral .Much more Dynamic than My perception ,and much more interesting!

I will be reading that Book for sure !

I also Am getting my You Tube up and running today .

Thx

Glad to hear about your PC :)

Yes, I was similarly knocked out when seeing that corkscrew orbit in a video a short while ago. I'd tended to picture a rather static situation of always going around the sun and the sun just sat there in the middle.
Now - we are hurtling through space at an unfathomable speed, locally twisting in orbit around the sun, which itself is part of the spiral of a galaxy, which itself is hurtling through space at an unfathomable speed.
This is not a ride for those who get motion sick easily !

This is well worth looking at too: http://media.skysurvey.org/interactive360/index.html
While trundling around it just using my scroll wheel mouse, it was realised that by using the scroll wheel I could zoom in and out of areas and then it hit me - BLAM - the 'You Are Here' moment. To just look up on a clear night out in the countryside and see it.

I have no idea about the book, has it been digitized ? is it possible to read it ?
But I do have a feeling it's going to be like that 'You Are Here' moment :)

Put the sun in the middle, as a straight line through the attached pic...wheeeeeee  8)

Quoteand then it hit me - BLAM - the 'You Are Here' moment. To just look up on a clear night out in the countryside and see it.

Growing up on a farm I was always well aware of my place in the universe and I always found it odd that so many people were oblivious to this fact. Many people still seem to comprehend the world as flat and dominated by people, their job, their house and such and really have no comprehension of what or where they are. I remember looking up one clear calm night and out of nowhere I felt intuitively that I was in motion because I am in motion and if you ever get this feeling your perspective will never be the same. All those stars out there are not moving we are and yet for the most part everyone is oblivious to this fact.

Thanks for starting this thread.
I would first like to quote a small paragraph from my dad's book.

:When trying to describe any new approach to solving a problem or attempting to explain that there is an answer to what had never been resolved previously. You become aware of an air of disbelief. This disbelief is often confirmed by pointed questions like "if it's so simple how come no one has thought of it before?" or "Your crazy, it can't be that simple" or sometimes people just go unusually quiet. Whether they understand fully is difficult to know for sure:

!!To cut a very long, interesting and sad story short !!
David Fincher was my step father and also the owner of a company called DOVADA.
I refer to him as my dad,as that is who he was to me.
He has many patents to his name, but one of his most famous was the development of deep water comunication's for the navy (which is still used today)
Here is the link to the patent if anyone is interested-http://www.patentlens.net/patentlens/patents.html?patnums=US_4926398&language=&patnum=US_4926398&language=en&query=&stemming=&pid=p0.

Other inventions include ground penetrating radar used to find minerals deep under the earths surface.
This system is uded today by mining giant's like BHP billiton.

During the last 8 years of his life,i worked along side him and tried to get an understanding as to how he was thinking.
Most of what he was trying to explaine in reguards to mathmatic's and quantum mechanic's ,went straight over my head.
But when it came to showing these effects physically,i began to get a much better understanding as to what was happening.

The first device i remember him showing me,was this oscillating coil setup.
This was a simple circuit that set a coil oscillating. Once the oscillations started, the battery was removed.
The first time he showed me this ,i remember setting it in motion and then going to have some lunch.
Apon returning to the workshop,he placed the oscope back onto the coil to find it was still oscillating. This was about an hour after he started the oscillations.

The next 6 years was spent working out how to remove some of that power without disrupting the oscillation's.
During this time,he wrote a short book in reguards to his understandings as to how and why this could be achieved.

About two years ago,he fell ill with a lung disease.
8 months ago he lost his battle with the disease.
As i was the only son he had,he left all his equipment and the company to me.
Apon helping my mum clean out the workshop some time later,i came across this device that had (what i thought to be )3 LED's running very brightly.
1 of the 3 LED's i have since found to be a LRD.

Some will choose to believe what i say,but most will not-thats just the way it is.
But this device has no batteries, and it has continued to run for the last 7 months i have had it-and for however long it was sitting in the workshop cubboard.

The thread on my forum IAEC is my attempt at reconstructing each part of the device as best i can interpret it to be.
The led and solar pannel circuit on the thread was what i see as being a trigger part of the circuit.
The bifilar coil circuit i have recently made is what i see as an energy amplifyer-although the device dose not have a bifilar coil as such, but more of an airial/coil combination with two ground planes.

It would be easy for me just to show the device and let others try to work out how it function's,but i feel it would also be wrong of me as this was my dad's life work.
So as i am unable to solve the questions that come with this setup myself,i thought it would make for an interesting project for all that are interested in my dad's work.

If anyone here would like a copy of my dad's book, then just email me on my private email-and i will email a copy of the book as a file attachment.

Thanks AC..It took that interactive star map posted above to trigger my own inner experience of revelation. To finally 'get it' regarding our seemingly static yet ever changing place in the universe. There is no set place, it's constantly changing as we rapidly zoom through the allegedly particle devoid fabric of fresh space in front of our trajectory. To me, now and presumably many years later than the norm (lol), 'the emptiness of space' is one of the fundamental mis-placed phrases of popular science.
One phrase I like is 'stop the world I want to get on' :)
A concept which relates, is that of us being within a spark gap in an experimenters lab. We are hurtling across the gap...the Big Bang was just that, the initial firing of the one spark, within a system which fires 100 times per second. Time is our own construct, our seconds and hours only relate to the experience we are having. The electrical energy all around us, that we find, use, harness is the same energy that many other universe wide peoples may be using...all within that fired spark.

Brad - thank you for embracing the concepts of this board section and for outlining the history of a most spectacular inventive mind. I completely agree with you, David gifted his knowledge to you in a way that need not be cast out to the rabid 'gimme crowd'. An understanding is only part of the equation, belief in the device is evident and the research much more than some mythical side story that we hear from time to time.
Knowing how it works and replicating how it runs are so much more useful than blind copying.
If David hadn't wished you to take perhaps all of us forward, I believe he would have destroyed his device. He was of high reknown, he may well have seen someone within your character in the time he knew you, to know his work would be in good hands.

I'll be emailing you not to 'take' the book, but to learn from it, assist via replications and deeply study the work as a psychological understanding too.

The Forever Light carried on for over 18hrs in the little darkness test a couple of times. compared to a standard 16hr run. Nothing conclusive, but the back feed from even its weak LED to the solar panel appears to have prolonged the run as hoped :)
Shown here, still running. I'll let it rest up a bit now by putting it back in ambient daylight.

Sorry Chet
An LRD is a light recieving diode,or photodiode.
This is why i used a solar cell in the first part of the circuit,as i didnt have a photodiode at the time.

Brad - If there are still a few junker VHS recorders round your way, you'll likely find a couple of decent ones in those.
Or, even easier...
TV remotes have IR senders in them identical in shape to LED's, which will also receive solar and LED light well. Can run a blocking oscillator using a TV remote I/R LED in good sunlight, my Ha'Penny oscillator is set up like that to not need a solar panel :)

I have something today which hopefully adds in a decent way.
The resonant frequency of a pancake coil can potentially give us extra output, to the results seen in your setup so far.
If we match the frequency of the oscillator to that of the pancake, or the pancake to the oscillator, we'll gain a wireless output.
That wireless field can be collected and fed back to the driving source...and in fact be worked on to BE the driving source.
It's open, because there is an air gap and the way that Tesla's pancake runs you can often see a decrease in current by loading it more. Oddball but true enough, as commonly seen in folks YouTube videos where they add a panel of LED's to a Tesla tower and for extra Lumens you see a reduction in current.

So, this experiment shown in the video below, uses the DS203 scope, to produce a squarewave into the coil to be tested. The coil is the same one from the video I showed where it would produce a wireless field from the 555 oscillator. In this case, the voltage is only 2V p/p and the current is negligible, it being a digital signal.
As a background, the DS203 will output a digital squarewave (with 1%-100% duty cycle), but will output analog signals too, for sine, triangle, sawtooth. Those other wave shapes are capped at 20kHz being analog, the squarwave being digital allows it to run up to 9MHz.
The scope is running the fantastic firmware written by open source community programmer 'Gabonator', which includes the highly usable Frequency Generator and which was uploaded to it today after I struggled with the factory operating system.
(the screen protector is still in place and shows some fingerprints).
Chet has asked me to write up a review of the features of the scope..which I will in a separate post, for those interested in these little marvels.

In the vid, I show that at the coil resonant peak of 3.6MHz, the wireless energy is emitted, at lower there is nothing, higher and it drops away again.

The upshot is, if we build a tuned pancake to the otherwise most efficient band of your system running, we can collect from that wireless output. If we build an oscillator that scavenges energy, from radio, ambient light, whatever, we can drive the system at the resonant peak of the pancake coil. I have a theory that the rest of the device is going to be doing that :)
What would be handy is a frequency measurement of the actual running device...build accordingly, verify the result and along the way change parameters to ascertain how David arrived at the frequency it runs at.

Nice video slider.
That little scope has some great functions i see.
Dose it have an output where you could plug it into an external screen or laptop? as my eyesight isnt that good these days-to much welding throughout my life.

Now in reguards to the frequency of the DOVADA device-im not sure as my scope wont go that high.
But here is a paragraph from the book, which you have now
:Now to explain how the atomic particle processes electromagnetic energy. The atomic structure can only process magnetic energy at one frequency rate. This built in frequency rate is already known to us. It is the frequency of hydrogen 1.420 gigahertz. This known frequency has a wavelength of 21.106 centimetres or 0.21106 metres and according to modern day physical theory is associated to the alignment of the spin of both the proton and electron particles.

So at a guess i would say that may be the frequency it is running at?
But i guess that we may be able to use a square division of this frequency?

This is why i have shared the book with you guy's,and those i concider to be trustworthy-as some of it i just cant make heads or tails of.

There are some parts of the device that i just dont know what there function is,but if we dont get anywhere withing a couple of month's-then i will video the device and show it here(and only here)
Maybe we could then make some sence of what those unknown parts are.
But first i would like to see if we !! as a team !! can nut this thing out.

Brad

We'll nut it out...if only because that phrase is a new one on me and I like it :)
OK, 21.106cm, so that's microwave territory with a 1/4 wave aerial/antenna of 5.2765cm.
If you've ever built a 'Cantenna' for household wi-fi then you'll have made aerial pieces inside say a Pringles can, that are 5cm or so (2.4GHz).
Traditional cellphone type microwave transistors will run at that frequency. If it has anything like transistors in it of course.
I would guess that somewhere in the structure of the device is a piece of exactly 5.2765cm in length and, that it is part of an aerial that contains Golden Ratio or Fibonacci series sectioning. It may even be some kind of fractal antenna.
Anyway, just guesswork there.

Yep, got the book thank you :)
I can't open it yet though...am downloading Libre Office. Running quite a fresh Linux install and didn't think to download a reader before now.

One thing to bring up to the DS203 crew would be an external screen capability. I know some clever chap has created a Bluetooth dongle app for it and can control the scope with his Smartphone. So that should mean that a Bluetooth enabled PC or one of them iPads could grab snapshots at least.
Possible now are wave .bmp's and .wav files that can be saved out and analysed on a PC, over the USB connection.

Next, an exploration of the size of coil to the frequency needed. It follows the path of component matching...be that at 74kHz or 1.42GHz. Actually, I have wound some pretty small pancakes before now, hmm, gotta wonder about the inductors in the DOVADA...are they really just inductors or could they be coils that resonate at 1.42GHz ?.
In this video I show how the pancake resonant frequency is related to the size of it.
An LED is this time connected across the middle 2 wire join of the bifilar pancake and one outside wire.
Am hoping that these studies help with the exact tunings needed in the DOVADA replication builds.
Btw, MongrelShark (Joel) kindly helped with the development of the SWES a few months back and i'm delighted to see him on your forum thread about this project. He writes a little more than I do, but it's close !

Hi Slider
Sorry about the Aussie slang-nut this out. It simply means to work out how something work's.

There is no coil that i could see operating at that frequency, but there is an upsidedown piramid looking antenna thing that is quite large in reguards to the unit as a whole.
Undernieth the antenna there is two aluminum plates that i asume work as some sort of ground plane.
These plates are at the same angle as the piramid antenna (if thats what it is)-or very close to it by looking at it.

There is also a clear blue tube that has a corse looking coil inside it,with a rod through the center of the coil.
I would say the coil is made from 1.5mm copper wire-or there about's.
Im not sure what part that plays in the system, but it has 5 wires comeing out of the end of the tube.

Anyway, one way ore the other we will get to the bottom of it.
Never let your schooling get in the way of your education.

Thanks for the info.
Nut it out is really descriptive - better than using yer noggin :)

The rough coil is perhaps a tuning setup, more so if the windings have uneven spaces or a few are bunched up...all in keeping with radio tuning by hand. Ferrite would be my guess for the rod and for it to be adjustable.
The plates shout capacitive coupling. Dr. Stiffler showed a way to use metal blocks such as PC heatsinks as a capacitance. I've got a vid of it somewhere on YouTube, by way of replication. Doesn't have to be blocks, just a lot of metal for a few pF and parallel to each other. Couple of mm gap upward to 1/2" or so for a highly variable capacitance.. By that arrangement, a capacitance and a virtual Ground would be formed (not trying to dig you into a corner, don't worry, just thinking aloud).

Here's a simple first run of the circuit, with LED's and diodes.
The circuit comprises a 555 timer with variable frequency output (and rate indicator LED which has no bearing on the pulse output), 2x 1N4148 diodes, 2x LED's and the pancake coil. Voltage is 9V to the 555, with near 5V pulse train of the 555 square wave output.
Not much to look at really, except the wacky scope traces. I have no idea at the moment how fast the 555 frequency generator is running.
Will set up some meters tomorrow...got 2x same ones, so an input/output current measurement will be done.

This run shows a weird fluting waveshape. The scope is across the coil, Timebase 1ms.
Sorry about the poor camera focus on the scope trace and my newbieness using it, Will have to work something out about the focus. Maybe a fresnel lens out of a rear projection TV would work...or something.

Will do...am up bright and early today to make sure my meters are ok for tests (1 may not read in the mA scales just Amps).
But also because we're apparently going to have a freak 75F day today and i'll believe it when I see it.
Ideally, there'd be a lawn chair out in the backyard, with a couple of beers at the side readied for the great occasion of a sun tan in January  ;D

Got a lot of BPC's nowadays, so i'll try that with different ones. I wind up anything from wall adapter cords to co-ax cable and including old mains leads. What I hadn't done was one similar to yours on a CD, though did have one like that months ago for tests on this forum. It ended up springing into a mess some while later and was where supergluing came from that Joel (MS) seems to be a fan of. And, speaking of Joel, i'll try Grounding the negative side of the circuit in the actual ground outside today, as he suggested. JB's Patents, for example, show an actual Ground and noone puts them on SSG's or much else in OU endeavors.

In my opinion, the oscillator may not be needed in the end. The ringing effect and natural properties of the BPC will produce the AC waveform required and will match the microwave aerial frequency. Apparently there is also a 'cosmic' source around 13MHz from Dr. Stiffler's work and we have the 7.8Hz Scheumann to think about too as a natural source. Besides, we do have to make sure that stray microwave energies from man made stuff aren't powering your Dad's device (for the sceptics).
The 2nd video above, with the big yellow BPC had the situation where the square wave inputs from the scope could be attached either which way around - the connected LED still lit.
Your video of the one on top of the other shows what we can do here....to gain the wireless effects, i.e. the ability for the BPC to emit energy that can be received by another one, only the center tap and 1 output wire are needed. That gives us the other side that in that case is doing nothing at all !
Connecting a frequency timer to a BPC's full start and end wires and running at it's wireless resonant frequency, produces no wireless output. Connecting the timer to the middle and end produces wireless and leaves the other side open to energy collection. THAT side can be a backfeed around as an energy reuse or be correctly loaded with LED's etc, while also the BPC is sending energy output to a receiving coil. The receiving coil has an air gap and so is an open system, allowing that collected energy to feed back in.
If more current is truly coming out than went in then we're nearly there.

Looks like at least 1 meter has lost its mA scale, so i've had to put them on the Amp scale.

First with no solar panel, the reading in the pic shows a 4 point less output than input ?
Second run with a small solar panel showed a 1 point increase in output to input ?
I've got the meter leads the wrong way around on the pickup meter btw, just noticed  C.C

Changing the frequency up lowers the input draw (thoughts turn to 1.42GHz) The LED's show very little change no matter what the range frequency used...which is good.

I'll run the scope freq gen through it and see what happens, then can be much more exact. Will set it to the 74kHz as shown in one TinMan vid :)

Shown best in the first pic of the circuit is how I have it set up. I'll also look for a remote control to take the I/R LED out of it.
Btw, a heads up for USA readers, Dollar Tree are selling universal remotes for $1 at the moment, complete of course with I/R LED.

Moving along:

Temp has got to 73.2F - cloudy all day but a strong wind from the South...guess that'll do it, no lawn chair sunbathing possible though..
It's set the record for this day of the year, old record 72F in 2011. Very nice for running Winter experiments.

Found an I/R LED, 3 in fact on the front of a kiddie remote control. I used to buy tons of such things a couple of years back from a seconds shop.
Connected one way it's visible in the screen of the camera. Connected the other way would appear to be correct.
Amp draw of 130mA fell to 50mA just by adding that I/R LED :D
Now to tune and whatnot.

Scavenging energy:

Here I show how a pancake coil on the top of the TinMan circuit, if configured well, will increase the energy return to the circuit
(similar to the double pancake video of TinMan's with the double scope effect).
The LED comes on and the amp draw is unchanged. Although running at the wrong range on the meters, the effect of no increase in milliamp draw with correct loading is well known within Tesla tower experiments.
This circuit appears to display that effect.

Lower input voltage:

It struck me, that 9V was going in the front end. Well, we could use a 7805 regulator or similar to bring that to a better input voltage, but, we could also use another oscillator all together.
What would the circuit do at a lower voltage in any case ? would the pancake still perform well ?
I took a circuit from a normally water powered oscillator (a 1Meg resistor/0.1uF cap, tank based blocking oscillator) and used that as the pulse source...power is from a 1.2V Ni-MH.

The input meter shows zero, the output meter shows 10mA.
While not strictly keeping to the circuit dynamics, the output is shown by way of an LED on the wireless pancake coil that was shown earllier.
The LED's on the TinMan circuit don't come on, but the input is really really low.
Another, twin pancake, was found to develop more horsepower than the usual circuit one.

So that's maybe twice that the anomalous output current has been seen and i'm aiming to increase that output now, while further refining the input oscillator.

Hi Slider
Great video's there.
I see you have put the first part and second part together--you beat me to it lol.
It is so good to see some one starting to piece it together.
As you will see on the thread at IAEC,the first part was to build what i determond to be the oscilator part of the unit.
The second part was the energy amplifyer, which we have use the BPC for.
Now you have put the first part with the second part-very cool.
Interesting about the 0ma in and around 10ma out.

I will be doing some more work on the circuit tonight. That will be to do what you have done, and pulse the coil with the first part of the circuit(the oscilator).
The solar pannel on the first part was to tune the coil, but i think that need's some refinment yet.

I am interested on your thoughts about a better BPC than the one i have.Mine maybe has to many turn's?

Any hint's on how to make a better BPC for the lower voltages we are useing?,as this was one i built years ago.

Cheers
