Hi Mike,
       This also reminds me of the Wimshurst Machine, since this is simpler than a Testatika, the same as a Wimshurst.   And you're right to some extent?   The Wimshurst's put out low currents?   AFAIK?   Stepping down this high voltage will probably require self-wound transformers.
