Found this on EF and it reminded me straight away of the Testatika unit and how possibly it works.

Hi Mike,
       This also reminds me of the Wimshurst Machine, since this is simpler than a Testatika, the same as a Wimshurst.   And you're right to some extent?   The Wimshurst's put out low currents?   AFAIK?   Stepping down this high voltage will probably require self-wound transformers.
