There is a surprise guest on Art Bell's new Midnight In The Desert radio show tonight.
Mike Marcum allegedly disappeared through time in 1998, to reappear in a field 800 miles away in 2000.
His device and research make for a great read at least:

Can a laser driven Jacob's Ladder really produce a ball of heat energy ?
If, as scientific thought goes within that PDF, every lightning bolt would create such a heat/time displacement, might we have worms from now living in the 25th century ? lol, how would we know ?

The interview is tonight, 11pm CST to 2am, online or on the radio. The show has several AM stations broadcasting the stream, as well as a couple of SW ones. I normally listen on WTWW, SW, 5085kHz, with a 1980's Lasonic TRC-931 boombox, but that's because i'm a nerd :)
Even nerdier is the plan to build a SW radio from scratch, just to tune in to the shows.

Since when is 1085 kHz "shortwave" ?    :D

Are you sure you're not listening on 9480 kHz?  Or maybe 5085 kHz?

Slider did you read the end of the article where it says "About the Author" ?

Anyway to believe the story we would need to accept that the guy disappeared in 1998 then did not exist for 2 years until 2000 when he reappeared. Further to that he would need to reappear exactly 2 orbits of the Earth around the sun otherwise he would reappear in space because the Earth is moving.

It's just a story of fiction. The passing of time is like a continuing event, and the keeping of time simply gives us a chronicle of the past events. We do not travel in time we travel in distance, Time passes and we exist.

If we travel from point "A" to point "B" time passes as we do that but we did not travel in time, time simply passed as we traveled in distance. Even if we sit still we are traveling along with the Earth as time passes.

In other words the "Grand Event" of the existence of the Universe continues in an orderly fashion.

We don't measure time we "keep" time so to speak. Units of time can be derived in a number of ways but they all represent the same thing, the passing of events.

It is entirely impossible to move forwards or backwards in a continuous event, it doesn't even make sense. Completely illogical.

Haha, yer quite right TK, 5085kHz. This keyboard needs new fingers  ???
Will edit the OP and correct it. I even watched their vid with the quadcopter footage. Weird station, seems to be religious, but then has MITD. There are no adverts, it just streams the whole thing, perhaps C. Crane own WTWW.

Farmhand - The author isn't an average paranormal type of writer ?
Black eyed kids have been a fave on Darkness Radio (Dave Schreider) for quite some while. So I presume he may have cashed in on that craze..or refuted it.
I like your reasoning, but, can't say that I close down all possibilities personally.
To us and our logic, time is only measured by us, to represent meaningful differences as things age. That much I certainly agree with. All starts, has a middle and has an end.
But - that's wholly from our experiences and perspective. Our time may be relative to us as 60 seconds per minute, but somewhere else it may be the equivalent of 100 years per second. Some would link that to the Old Testament and the 6 days to create what we have here....well, maybe Georgio from Ancient Aliens would :)
What I did like, was the way he said he threw a bolt into the machine and it landed some feet away, or the real guinea pigs and they landed out in the parking lot. That reminded me of part of 'The Prestige', where Tesla (David Bowie) teleports cats and hats  a number of feet into the house grounds and the magician who set the task realises the experiment is working.
An instant pass through seems possible, inclusive of the speed of the Earth through space. Though, if the Earth is moving anywhere other than on a parallel path to the experiment on the table, the items would have ended up in the foundations or up in the air !
Just enough to seem slightly possible and create intrigue might be his way.
It should be 100% bullshirt...a scam for the investor money.

Good point on the missing 2 years. Did he have a credit card or bank account ? can those records be found and show a gap ?

Slider,

Many thanks for the link to Art's new show.  I had hoped
this might eventually come to pass.  Coast to Coast AM
with George has become a turn-off.

Happy dance time!!

Cheers muDped :)
In my opinion, Coast has gone the safe route, nothing is really very exciting. A great way to get accustomed to weird stuff, but not a patch on Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis or some others.

Darkness Radio have always been good on Fridays, with their Supernatural News, even better when ditzy blonde Mallie Fox was at the station. Great humour and a lot of laughs, worth checking out tonight too - 9pm to Midnight CST

Before my wife had her medical troubles, we did weekly shows for a couple of years on BlogTalk Radio (Conundrum with Cougar & Slider), where I would do the World Wide Weird news of the strange and paranormal in the first segment. That was straight copied from Darkness's style  :P  But our show was on Thursdays and those guys often did some of the same stories on Fridays, which was fun to compare with.

Thankfully, radio hasn't died off in the USA and 1 of my own bucketlist goals has been met, with Art's return to the air.
That simple thing of tuning in, when the guy would be discussing ultra stupid stuff lol. Had heard of the original Coast to Coast AM back in the 90's but of course was in the UK. On moving here in 2007, Art was off the air, but George Knapp was always good for a listen. With Art fast approaching 70, I did think that the failed Sirius XM deal would be the end...but he's bounced back again. Did anyone else here do the free month thing and then quit Sirius ?  8)

It would be fantastic if TK would call in, or indeed Farmhand with his viewpoints  :D
Wouldn't miss that for the world.

3 million volts at an amp, 35ft in the air  :o
2x 15ft tubes in a warehouse as jacob's ladder, with 24 x 15 degrees electromagnets to spin the generated plasma.
The only things I think he needed at this stage of the story, was a knife switch and an evil laugh !

Fun show so far :)
A drinking game, is to take a shot of your favourite beverage every time he says 'basically'. Drunk in 3 minutes !

Very cool idea for the trip home :)
It's a fascinating story, not quite as easily dismissed as others and quite the classic bit of radio.
I have no idea how laser modulation would work within such a system, but wouldn't it be good to build one and take a look see ?
That's mostly why I posted it, to see if anyone has tried anything similar, or, would try something similar.

Personally, i've never built a jacob's ladder and it might be a good idea to do so.
