It's turtles all the way down
For the last year we have been using a "Clear" wireless connection. This is a wireless box that somehow connects to the internet. We have been paying $45 per month and had to buy the box initially for about $100.

Now we are informed that "Clear" is discontinuing service on Nov 6, and there is no recourse. The box is now worthless along with our investment in it. Many people are very angry about this and want to start a class action lawsuit against "Clear", but I think it will be to no avail.

I'm interested in other avenues and have been exploring prices and services from other providers, but many want to bundle with TV service, which I don't watch. Just need a reasonable internet connection.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions before I am forced to go back to dial up as a temporary measure?

I am in zip code 19403, Eagleville, PA.

Regards ION

It's not as complicated as it may seem...
A guy at work here has a small tower in his back yard that a company uses to provide a similar service to what you perhaps had with "Clear". He doesn't pay because of the use of his tower and property.

Perhaps you could solicit a few wireless ISP's and offer some free real estate to provide a similar service in your area?

An interesting idea, I'll check into it. I have enough land, but I wonder what power level they broadcast at?

Ion,

The company on his tower is called Hotlink Wireless, and there is both 900MHz and 5.8GHz on his tower. Both are unlicensed, so is under 1W of power.

He says it is better than dial up but varies with the number of people using it at any one time.

Don't you have in the US, internet service via satallite? the speed is the same as a wifi link. Where I am in the country and up a mountain, a company has put this system into operation. I do not use it, I have around 1Mb via a modem with my telephone line as I get also my mobile smart phone included in the price of 40€ month tax included.

The system is one dish for the satellite with small radio link, Ghz, from each house in the area (around 60).

ION, I use my local phone company's DSL service, high speed dedicated line and $26.99 a month and right now they are offering higher speed then I have for 19.99/Mo. for the first year.  It has always been reliable, now about 6 years, and I watch internet TV like Netflix with no problem.
Nice to have you back by the way I hope your healing well.

Thank you, Room3327, I am healing well, but they want to do chemo for the intestinal stuff and further exploration of the 2 cm lung nodule.

Looking at the material safety data sheets for their regime (FULFOX), it is comprised of three dangerous chemicals one known to be carcinogenic. I am not inclined to do chemo, rather I will be using curcumin, which has been proven in the lab to kill colon cancer cells. I will also use dietary and lifestyle changes.

I have researched this and can attach findings from respected journals of medicine, if anyone is interested. Interestingly, oncologists get to buy the chemo drugs from the pharmaceutical company and mark them way up, then sell them to the cancer customer. To me this is a huge conflict of interest. I spoke to my oncologist and did not even have to bring it up, he offered the information about the drug markups, and said "we do this to cover our expenses". It is called the "chemo concession" and was written up in the NYT  and other places.

And yes, DSL would be my first choice but Verizon says it is not available, so I may need to look into changing my home phone supplier to one that does. Verizon has a vested interest in trying to convert everyone off the copper twisted pairs over to fiber, but the prices are way too high.

Thanks for your help
Kind Regards, ION

PS I have attached some interesting info on cancer, just a small amount of my research.

ION I feel the same way about the chemo route, don't want it, I'd try the sodium bicarbonate cancer cure first, heck I'd try anything that was a non-threatening no side effect natural type of cure before I'd ever do chemo. Curcumin I have heard about that as a cancer cure I will keep it in mind.

Cheers

Curcumin, an ingredient of Turmeric can be purchased in it's pure form online and is extremely inexpensive. The documents I attached have some amazing studies. It seems that peoples that use it regularly in their diets have lowered incidence. A movie I recommend is "Second Opinion", a documentary regarding the cover up and smear campaign Sloan Kettering mukups under pressure of the pharma industry used to discredit amygdalin back in the 70's, while one of their oldest research scientists Dr. Sigiura had volumes of research proving that it was very effective.,  Sloan bigwigs said it had absolutely no value. What happened in that period is very interesting and exposed by Ralph Moss in the documentary.

I am researching health improvement from many angles including diet, exercise, attitude, lowering or eliminating stress, all of which I believe are contributing factors.

Losing my daughter in April of this year left me with a huge hole in my heart, lots of stress dealing with the later foreclosure on her home, lots of work and stress having to clear out and find homes for all of her belongings, while putting my health needs on the back burner. I barely had time to mourn properly, whatever that means.

Now I am calm, things that used to upset me don't anymore, I've had wake up calls more than once in the last three years, hopefully I'll "get it" now.

Kind Regards
ION

Must be the age we are at, my doctor put me on little blue sertraline pills and I am also much calmer now, still upset about everything going on in the world, but now I just don't care anymore and get upset much less. LOL

My condolences a daughter can be a very hard one to get over, hang in there I hope things get better for you.  We just buried a friends daughter who was killed in a freak accident, at her peak in life 40 years old, doing what she loved and had a family that loved and adored her, it can be gut wrenching but I was glad I could be there for him. I hope someone is there for you.

At the moment up on the mountain (due to flaky adsl) I use a Huawei B593 3/4G wireless broadband unit (wall powered), it has 4 Ethernet outputs and wifi, the wifi can be turned off by a button and the RF power can be varied a bit on the wifi output.
Problem is the data is expensive, prohibitive even. I pay $130.00 and get 22 Gigs and 2 years to use it lol. I did that so I can use the adsl landline mostly when it is working but it is also a fraction of the speed of the 3/4G unit which gives 20 Mbps here, but the adsl is only 1500 Kbps though it's free for me here. Better speeds in town but the $30.00 dollars a month line rental for the phone line jut for the internet has me wondering what would be cheaper. I'll have to see what deals I can get in town on the wire. Not a fan of wireless, the phones are bad enough. My wireless broadband modem is not carrier "locked" so it will work with any Carriers sims.

Oh and the B593 unit has connections for dual (MIMO) external antennas as well as dual internal antennas. So good for low signal area. Until the national broadband network gets fully rolled out many people here still get quite poor internet speeds and expensive data on wireless. I think I paid about $100.00 dollars for my B593 unit.

Dear Ion.

Last year, you may recall we looked at the Akula0083 30 W self running generator. Whilst the device didn't work I made Skype contact with Les Banki who provided my wife and I with some interesting health tips.

He was a great believer in the more natural ways of dealing with illness. One tip as a cancer suppressor was Sodium Bicarbonate, taken with water every day. We have followed this regime for over a year now, I can't vouch for it's validity but neither of us suffer much with indigestion these days!! :)..... No cancer either!

Another tip was Cayenne pepper, for the heart and associated blood vessels. I now use it in every savoury dish I prepare and yes, you do get accustomed to the heat, oh and for goodness sake don't be eating convenience foods! They're full of ***p !!

I hope you're successful in nailing that beast that lies within, you'll be in our thoughts.

Kind regards Grum.

Hi Grum and Ion, This is good advice I have been taking cayenne pepper for 15 years on and off after reading a book named 'Left for Dead' by a guy who had had several heart bypass surgeries and after the latest tests my heart is good. This stuff cleans your arteries out of gunk far better then all these statin drugs being given to everyone with no side effects other then it enhances sex, I think we can live with that, well that and the bottom end can burn a bit. LOL

I mentioned above the sodium bicarbonate cure, which I and my wife have been doing as well, it seems to be working at least no cancer yet.  I just wanted to add on this that you must dissolve all the baking soda (yes Arm and Hammer) before drinking, specifics are 1/2 teaspoon in 8 oz. of water once per day and they say to add some lemon juice to it as well.

This is supposed to cure all forms of cancer with the exception of deep bone cancer which can also be cured by it with catheters inserted to the location by doctors AFAIK.  You do not need to stay on it for ever just till the cancer is completely gone.

For another tidbit, they say the cure for Alzheimer's and dementia is 2 tablespoons a day of virgin coconut oil, but this cure must continue the rest of the persons life or they will revert.  It is said that it only takes a few weeks to a couple months to work and bring them back to the world. We have also been on this and I like it, it does seem to improve my memory when I am taking it.

Cheers everyone and a long life

Thanks to everyone for the internet info and the health tips. It is good to see that others believe as I do when it comes to illness.

Yes, I'm a believer in bicarbonate , cayenne and many other effective natural prevention and healing regimes that have been branded "quackery" by those that love to deride what they cannot patent and reap huge profits.

Runaway greed rules the medical and pharma industry. We must realize these are "for profit" organizations and our bodies are the free pass to bilk the insurance providers. We are a piece of meat with a tag on it, to be "processed".

Don't get me wrong, the industry is very good at fixing certain kinds of problems that may arise, broken bones, plumbing problems etc, however when it comes to cancer it is a very different story. Cut, burn with radiation or poison with chemo is all that is allowed, and many good doctors are bridled by these AMA restrictive practices. You will promptly lose your license if you dare suggest an alternative method to your patient other than the "big three".

When I look back over the last few years, I can see that I got complacent with a number of things that lead to a health decline, lack of healthy diet, exercise, attitude, reducing stress levels etc.
Hopefully that won't happen again.

I'm now making adjustments on many fronts.

Kind regards to all
ION
