Sounds like an amazing project, let us hope they form a strong build group.
Fusion makes so much sense i know it's only a matter of time before someone cracks this and manages to get it to the masses.

Quite honestly there is much to be learned here!
Who would have thought this possible even ten years ago [table top unit the size of a light bulb ],Now I could imagine a souped up arduino running most of these tasks!

A nuclear engineer Prof George Miley took a good look at this several years ago.  Basically, the Farnsworth Fusor going back decades.  Its a good idea, based on true hot fusion...  but getting those deuterons to fuse is not so easy.  Mostly they just collide elastically ("bounce off").

Miley told me that the device would make a decent source of neutrons; but NOT net energy.
