I asked you to relate two frequencies  ...not to describe the commutation and capacitance charging sequence.

If there was not a 3rd frequency placed into the system (created by C3 external cap), and only two frequencies which are 25kHz and 50kHz (2:1) then there would be a clash always at the same place.

If you take a transformer with a single primary and a secondary which is shorted, you have a current transformer.

If while the primary is excited you un-short the secondary what happens? Be careful if you try it, you may kill yourself.

This is all Tesla!

The thing is here there are two shorted secondaries which also make up a capacitor, hence the name FLUX CAPACITOR.

The primary is "b" the secondaries and cap the core. :D

But I was not asking about two input frequencies "placed into the system".

I was asking:
Quote from: Verpies on 2026.07.02, 16:35:43
Is the frequency of this current supposed to match the self-resonance frequency of the bifilar3 winding located underneath it ?
Where "this current" refers to the current flowing in the winding which is wound over the bifilar3 winding underneath it.

Quote from: Verpies on 2026.07.02, 16:35:43
If you take a transformer with a single primary and a secondary which is shorted, you have a current transformer.
A current transformer is a type of transformer that reduces (or multiplies) pulsed or alternating current, producing a current in its secondary which is proportional to the current in its primary.
So a transformer with a shorted secondary meets this definition but its secondary current cannot be converted to voltage with a CSR for easy metrology.

Quote from: Centraflow on 2026.07.04, 10:07:58
If while the primary is excited you un-short the secondary what happens?
Depends on the turn ratio between the primary and secondary, but this is a distraction from the answer to my question about the 2 frequencies.

Magluvin

The core bifilar windings do not have resonance.
Those 2 core windings and the capacitance between them do not form a resonant circuit.
Has been stated earlier

So if I hit a bifilar3 winding with a momentary pulse as shown below, then the scope will not register any oscillations of the current after the pulse ?

Well to apply here, the pulse you should be looking to apply would be via a separate primary B wound around the core.  When you pulse and induce the core, Diag.3 wound, you are inducing each of the core windings, both in the same orientation. As Mike said, they would be bucking each other and the capacitance between them would have no interaction in the process.
Likewise if you apply a charge to the capacitance, it will just charge.  That's it.

Now, how else would you apply the pulse you are thinking of?

mags

Magluvin

well now that i have 'access rights' to see your pic, i see you are just charging the capacitance of the core windings and nothing more. might as well make an LC with a shorted L.  but, a wire does have inductance, and if there is a spit of resonance, it should not be anywhere near or  close to what one might think, considering the actual windings.
unless i am mistaken and you have already performed the experiment and show differently.

mags

Magluvin

considering your test circuit as shown, it is off topic and should be deleted along with your post. it is not how mike intended those core windings to be driven or used.

I think that a method used to excite the bifilar3 winding is good for measuring its self-oscillation frequency if that excitation method stops influencing the bifilar3 winding AFTER the excitation pulse ends.

The method depicted in my diagram is the easiest to realize practically and has this desirable property that after the excitation pulse ends, the excitation circuit becomes disconnected and the bifilar3 winding is free to oscillate in isolation without any influence from the exciter.

Other methods of excitation keep influencing the bifilar3 winding after the excitation phase and are subject to unpredictable variables such as synchronization of the wire pitch and turn phase of the other windings in Layer 2.

Also, the notion that a half of the bifilar3 winding is always at the same electric potential is false for wavelengths which are shorter than the length of the winding ...just like in the dipole antenna below:

A helical/coiled wire slows down the wave propagation but it does not fundamentally change that nonuniform voltage distribution along its length.

It naturally has a self Fr like all capacitors, but here with the plates being "coils" things start oscillating more than normal.

To find that Fr is quite easy by injecting a 1kHz square wave via a 10M ohm resistor and scope the other side of the resistor. BUT the point is A "plate "is positive and B "plate" is negative, do they change polarity!!! because A plate is one of the output terminals!!!

Well think what happens at the B drain in relation to C3 and the core.

Does "Fr" stand for "Frequency of Resonance" ?

Are the frequencies circled in red similar to each other ?
What is the optimal relationship between them ?

Centraflow

Yes and of course, but not the same

So if these two circled frequencies are not the same then what is the relationship between them (what is their ratio) ?

Quote SM :-

You take the "frequency of interest" and multiply it by 2.1 and 3.2+- End Quote.

So what is the frequency of interest?  This was my starting point. Reference was made to Earth frequency and Earth magnetic field!!!!! Earth frequency is 7.83Hz very low, the Earth magnetic field does not have "frequency", it is just a very very large ball magnet with low flux. On the other hand SM was an audio engineer, lots of frequencies from near 0-20kHz, take your pick.

So a lot of work wnt into what bloody frequency was the frequency of interest!  His pet field was DVD for cinema type audio for a home system, a codex frequency used is 7.8125kHz, so I went for that.

7.8125 X 3.2 = 25kHz  wow

7.8125 X 2.1 = 16.40625kHz hummmm a bit disapointing, but why these ratios, 2.1 and 3.2, the difference is 1.1.

But 2.1 and 3.1 were + or - , think again. Well it has to be close +-, lets work back wards, which I am good as I am dislexic.

He said that in the sequence, A and C must never be ON together, you will not like it.  Also he said about changing direction of the sequence and joked about in the southern hemi: it runs in reverse. That clinched the sequence to ABCBA, so any clock would be a divide by 4 for switching B twice, forward and reverse.

More to come as I have to go out.

That's right.
I hope this is the last time I read about it.

So what is the frequency of interest?
Is it the resonance frequency ( Fr ) of the bifilar winding (AB) located in the 1st Layer ?

Centraflow

AB resonates "between" polarity change at the transition B to A fet switching, which is the start and end of the switching sequence.

Foreget it I am gone, it is quite obvious you and Peter do not want me here.

I have taken screen copies of all the appropriate posts in case in the future I need them for some legal reason.

whether its been said or not, maybe a1 and a2 are the same winding with a tap. same with c1 and c2....  but then where is b?

Apparently between a and c:

Quote from: Centraflow on 2026.06.30, 08:44:17
In the windings what is imperative is the b coils next to the core, the best way is the b coils between the a and c coils side by side, abc where b is both inductive and capacitive, and the core is not being blocked to the a and c coils.
This was shown by SMs mockup photos.
...and "side by side" must mean "in the same layer".

Magluvin

so wind trifi 3 wires in on layer abc.  so maybe b is just not shown here, for now. but i agree.

mags

Magluvin

Ok.  'b' shown, but separately from the main circuit.

So there is 'a', center tapped into a1 and a2.  Likewise with 'c'.
So those 'a' and 'c' are 2 windings.
Then there is the core, which are labeled 'b' and 'a'.  2 windings. Now at 4.

Then below the circuit is the big 'B'.

Total of 5 windings.  Seems like its all there.  Where did you see a sixth winding?

The ac input CMC looks to be there for its own purposes.
